Fall Sermon Series!
As we experience 90-degree temps, it's hard to believe that Fall is finally here! That means that school is back in session, and that it's time for our Fall Series at church.
For those of you who are new(er) to our church, you have probably experienced a time in one of our services when we raised our hands, pointed our fingers to the sky, then toward ourselves, and then toward the people around us, while muttering some phrases (probably while thinking to yourself, "What have I gotten myself into?")
What we are doing is reminding ourselves:
1) what a disciple of Jesus is (i.e., who we are supposed to be)
2) what our calling is as a church (i.e., to make disciples of Jesus who look like this, too).
Once you understand that this is the "one thing" our church is trying to accomplish, it will also make sense of why I preach the way I do, and why we belive being in a Small Group is so important.
It also explains why we don't do a lot of other things in our church that don't help us accomplish the "one thing" we are supposed to be doing.
So I hope you will join us over the next four Sundays as we talk about what it means to:
1. Love God completely
2. Love Self correctly
3. Love others compassionately
4. Make disciples (who do numbers 1-3)
This will be a great Intro for those who are new to our church, and a great refresher for those who've been around for a while.
We hope to see you at 9am or 11am this Sunday.
