Deacon Leadership Development Classes | Information for Interested Candidates
Answering the Call to Serve:
The Deacon Leadership Development Class is designed for individuals who sense a call to servant leadership and desire to grow in their spiritual maturity, biblical knowledge, and ministry effectiveness. This training prepares candidates to serve faithfully as deacons while supporting the vision and mission of the church.
Purpose of the Program:
The purpose of this development class is to:
• Strengthen your relationship with God.
• Develop a deeper understanding of the biblical role of a deacon.
• Equip you for effective ministry and leadership.
• Cultivate servant-hearted leadership.
• Prepare you to meet the spiritual, practical, and relational needs of the congregation.
Candidates should:
• Be faithful and active members of the church.
• Demonstrate Christian character and integrity.
• Have a heart for serving others.
• Show spiritual growth and maturity.
• Be willing to learn, lead, and serve under church leadership.
Areas of Training:
Participants will receive instruction in:
• Biblical Qualifications of a Deacon
• Servant Leadership
• Spiritual Growth and Discipleship
• Church Doctrine and Ministry
• Prayer and Pastoral Care
• Conflict Resolution
• Ministry Ethics and Accountability
• Community and Congregational Service
Program Expectations:
Candidates will be expected to:
• Attend all scheduled classes and training sessions.
• Participate in discussions and ministry assignments.
• Maintain a consistent prayer and devotional life.
• Demonstrate a commitment to church attendance and service.
• Complete all required coursework and evaluations.
Our Goal:
Our goal is not simply to fill positions, but to develop faithful servant leaders who reflect the character of Christ and are equipped to serve with humility, compassion, and excellence.
Our first class will be held in the sanctuary of SMCBC on August 15th from 3pm-5pm and every third Saturday thereafter.
