At True Light Baptist Church, we believe serving others is serving Christ. For 35 years, Pastor Dennis R. Hebert, Sr. and our church family have shared hope in Baton Rouge through our food pantry ministry, providing food and encouragement to those in need.

Jesus said in Matthew 25:40 (NIV): “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

We thank God for our partners, volunteers, donors, and supporters who help us serve our community with love.

In the heart of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Pastor Dennis Hebert has led True Light Baptist Church for 35 years. Every Tuesday and Thursday, he and his congregation open their doors — handing out food baskets to neighbors experiencing food insecurity, many of them older adults navigating fixed incomes, medical challenges, and rising costs.

The pantry runs on partnership. Through their relationship with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank — part of the Feeding America network — they keep food moving to the neighbors who need it most. "It's a wonderful relationship," Pastor Dennis says. "They have supported us every step of the way."

For Pastor Dennis, this work isn't about one day or one season. It's a daily commitment. "Helping someone else brings me a sense of joy," he shares. "We have hope when we live to help someone else."

This Older Americans Month, 12.6 million seniors and older adults across the country are experiencing food insecurity. Communities like True Light remind us what's possible when neighbors show up for each other.
