Look at those smiles! That's the joy we want, mid-ceremony, when a couple is relaxed, surrounded by their loved ones, and are finally experiencing the magic that they spent months planning.

(Maybe some of that joy is also because their wedding vendors & venue are so wonderful? 😍)

Sometimes veering from "tradition" is very sweet: like choosing to be barefoot during your wedding ceremony on a stunning autumn day 🍂🍁 or opting to include a handfasting as part of your vows. (Fun fact: this ancient tradition is where we get the phrase "tying the knot"!) 💗 I love helping couples spin their creative ideas into meaningful ceremonies, and am grateful that I was H & L's officiant.

This was SUCH a lovely day (how could it not be, in Maine in July?)! Alison & Jim, your friends and family members obviously love you to bits—almost as much as you love one another! The icing on the (ha! wedding) cake was watching you give yourselves over to the magic of the ceremony.

It was imPOSSible to take your eyes off of Jen Hubbard and Kris Burton's faces during their intimate sunset ceremony at Portland Head Lighthouse: they were glowing like nobody has ever glowed before.

That being said, I'm tickled that the wonderful Kate Donovan snapped a photo of my and Kris's schmancy footwear! It's the small things -- like their clasped hands -- that makes wedding days so special.

I was so glad that G+G wanted to include a salt ceremony in their wedding! This ritual evokes the ancient practice of exchanging salt to seal a promise; two colors are mixed together so finely that they can't be separated -- just like their lives. 🧂 Plus, every time G+G use this salt in their daily meals, they'll remember the shimmering hot August Maine afternoon on which they became husband + wife! 💍💞
