It was a cold December morning. Snow had fallen a few days prior. A man caught up in his thoughts was not watching where he walked and tripped over a hovel of newspapers and cardboard boxes making a temporary shelter. As he picked himself up from the sidewalk he heard muffled whimpers and little voices saying mommy I am cold. The man brushing off the snow from his heavy coat stopped dead and listened. His heart fell as the cries from the children touched his heart. Months before he heard the joy of his family. But on a trip back from vacation there was a accident and his family was gone. He had questioned God why? Now in this moment he stood outside the hovel and cried. His heart broke. He bent down and opened the hovel and asked if he could help? The youngest a little girl crawled over to the man and snuggled up to feel warmth. The mother shaken and not sure, looked at her youngest and said we are homeless and have not eaten in days. The man picked up the little girl and wrapped her in his heavy coat. He helped the mother and the rest of the kids up and brought them to a near by Cafe. As they ate they both exchanged stories. The man finally offered the mother and her children a place to stay in his home. Sometimes life deals us disasters that seems to pull us into the depth of despair. But as we look out from our lives we see the need of others and our pits start to fill in as we reach out to others and share and show God's love. Jesus said love thy neighbor as thy self. Go out today and share God's love. Have a blessed day.
