The Youth Department of the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania is seeking volunteers to assist the kitchen staff during St. Tikhon’s Summer Camp from June 29 through July 4, 2026.

For those who would like to support the ministry of Summer Camp but are unable to commit to serving for an entire week, this is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful contribution. Volunteers are invited to assist for a single day, helping prepare and serve meals for the hundreds of campers, counselors, clergy, and volunteers who gather at camp throughout the week. Whether you are available for a few hours or an entire day, your time and effort help ensure that the camp community is cared for and nourished as they participate in a week of fellowship, faith, and formation.

No overnight commitment is required. Individuals interested in volunteering are encouraged to email [email protected] with their availability and any questions they may have regarding service opportunities.

The Youth Department asks clergy and faithful throughout the Diocese to share this opportunity with family members, friends, and parishioners who may be interested in lending a helping hand.

For additional information or to volunteer, please contact [email protected]

We thank you for your continued support of St. Tikhon’s Summer Camp and for your help in making this ministry possible!

Dearly Beloved in Christ,

With the help of God, the Blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Mark, and the strong support of parents and youth ministry workers in the Dioceses of Philadelphia-Eastern Pennsylvania and Vilnius-Lithuania, we are close as never before to being able to take a group of 10-12 teenagers and young adults on a camp exchange to Ignalina, Lithuania and Pilgrimage to the Holy Mountain Grabarka in Poland, giving our young people a unique opportunity to experience Orthodox Christianity as it is practiced in the "old country" and to connect with their peers on the far side of the ocean. Unfortunately, most of our teenagers and counselors are not able to fully fund their travel without external support, we have not been able to receive a grant that we had been anticipating, and world events have driven up fuel costs significantly since we began planning the trip last fall, making both flights and transportation on the ground more expensive than originally hoped for (a round-trip ticket that would have cost less than $570 last summer now goes for more than $800).

Brothers and sisters, please consider donating to our project at the link below. With just a few thousand dollars raised, we will be able to give our young people a trip of a lifetime to reinvigorate their faith, strengthen the Orthodox Church in America's connection with sister churches, and show the vibrant colors of American Orthodoxy to our brothers and sisters in the old world.

With Deepest Love in Christ,
Matthew Fleishman.

UPDATED: As preparations continue for St. Tikhon’s Summer Camp, the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania is inviting the faithful to support this important ministry through both financial contributions and parish meal donations.

Those who may be unable to serve at camp in person due to work or family obligations are encouraged to participate by contributing to the Summer Camp Food Fund, which helps offset the cost of feeding campers and staff throughout the program. Checks may be made payable to The Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania and mailed to 325 N. Walnut Street, Bath, PA 18014. Donors are asked to include “Summer Camp Food Fund” in the memo line.

In addition to financial support, parishes are invited to assist by preparing and donating meals for the duration of camp. If you have time to contribute instead, we are asking parishes to donate the following full meals to summer camp:

• BBQ pulled pork or pulled chicken
• Nacho ground beef
• Oatmeal bakes
• Baked penne
• Frosted birthday cake

Each meal should be prepared in full-size catering trays with lids, fully cooked, and deep-frozen prior to transport, with portions sufficient to serve approximately 250–300 individuals. A member of the camp kitchen staff will work directly with participating parishes to determine quantities and, if needed, provide recipes and guidance.

As in previous years, donations of individually packaged snacks are also being requested to provide evening refreshments for campers. A SignUpGenius link has been made available to assist donors in selecting and delivering snack items: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080C48AEAF28A5F85-63663475-2026 #/

Parishes or individuals interested in coordinating meal contributions or seeking additional information are asked to contact Dan Peck at [email protected].

The Diocese expresses its sincere gratitude to all who support St. Tikhon’s Summer Camp, whose generosity and dedication continue to make this ministry possible for the youth of the Church.

We thank you for your continued support of St. Tikhon’s Summer Camp and for your generosity in helping to make this ministry possible!
