ATTENTION LADIES!!!

A new ministry of BCC is kicking off this month. It is called The Bridge and is a way for all generations of women to gather in fellowship and fun!

Throughout the year, we will be teaching and learning new things, such as crafts, recipes, games, etc. and of course, there’s always food involved!
In a couple of days, we will let you know more info about this month’s The Bridge event.

7 MONTHS OLD…and the movement continues. Some highlights in the church plant from this month:

•Two local men were ordained as deacons on Aug. 23, 2026, joining 7 others who were ordained earlier this year. Adyn Dancy and Jim Tom Copeland are the two new deacons affirmed by the church after serving diligently for the Lord Jesus Christ.

•Also, BCC on that same day affirmed through ordination Reginald Watts and Arthur Rhodes as evangelists and ministers of the gospel. These two men are chaplains at the Miss. State Penitentiary in Parchman, Ms. We partner with them in ministry and are thankful for the opportunity to support these servants who work tirelessly ministering to the incarcerated. BCC also sponsors Koinonia Church, which is active inside Unit 30 at Parchman. This ordination service (Aug. 23 service) is available at our YouTube channel. You can view that service to learn more about these ministry partnerships.

• The launch of “community groups” was another an exciting step this month! At present, these small groups meet in about 10 homes across the county weekly. The ministry is designed to encourage discipleship, with about 4-5 families meeting together at each home to eat, encourage each other and study the Bible together. To get involved in a community group, see Jason or Leslie Covington at the Connect table on Sunday mornings.

• Some ways to pray for Batesville Community Church:

-We are asking the Lord for a radical spiritual awakening in this community, and we know that this is possible only through the power of the Spirit of God applying the truths of the Word of God to hearts and lives. Pray that local families and individuals who are not under the preaching of the Bible would visit, hear and respond to the life-changing, timeless truths of God’s Word. John Howell continues to preach through Romans on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. at the Batesville Junior High School Auditorium (507 Tiger Dr.). Jennifer Howell leads a team that teaches the Bible to the children on Sunday mornings. Jeremy Richey leads community outreach as we seek to brings Christ’s love, the gospel, and the truths of His Word out into the community.

-Renovation at The Post is underway! We’ve ordered new windows for The Post (the former VFW building) that the church will use for offices and for many ministries of the church, including children’s ministry (located at Hwy. 51 South in Batesville next to Magnolia Cemetery). Pray for the window installation to go smoothly and for God’s guidance and blessings in ongoing renovation efforts.

“Water sports” (country-style) was the theme of the recent “Fill-Up” for the student ministry held at the farm of Steven and Tiffany Pickel.

This Sunday, Aug. 23, Batesville Community Church will have a special time of ordination as part of the 10:30 a.m. service at the Batesville Jr. High Auditorium (507 Tiger Drive, Batesville).

BCC will be ordaining as deacons Adyn Dancy (married to Holly Pearson Dancy) and Jim Tom Copeland (married to Emily Bright Copeland). Both of these servants will be affirmed by the church and set apart for the ministry of deacon.

Also, Batesville Community Church will be ordaining Reginald Watts as a minister of the gospel. Bro. Watts is a full-time chaplain employed by the Miss. Department of Corrections. He serves those who are incarcerated at Parchman, but his ministries carry him throughout the U.S.

Reginald as a young man battled addiction and was incarcerated for more than 30 years, with much of that time served at Angola prison in Louisiana. Reginald became a Christian, and God launched his ministry like a rocket! Reginald was trained at the Bible college sponsored by New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary located inside Angola prison. He is married to Barbara Morgan Watts.

Bro. Watts and BCC Pastor John Howell have served together for several years in prison ministry at Parchman. We are honored to ordain this man of God and begin to partner and invest in his ministries. With this ordination on Sunday, BCC is affirming that we see God’s hand on Reginald’s ministry and effective evangelism and that we see God linking our ministries for His future purposes.

We invite you to attend this special service and see what God is doing. We especially invite the Kairos community to come support Reginald and Barbara this Sunday.

For a few years now, Jason Covington (one of the elders at BCC) has had both a burden and a vision for small discipleship groups connecting the lives of believers for spiritual encouragement and growth.

This month Community Church launched 9 “community groups” in various homes and misc locations in the county. This first wave includes a little more than 100 believers who go deeper with the passage preached the previous Sunday.

Shown here is the community group that meets in the home of John and Jennifer Howell (minus a few who were out). The feedback is so encouraging—this movement is spiritually combustible!
