Don’t let stress derail your marriage. Learn to handle it in a Godly way.

Your marriage doesn’t just grow because of time together. It grows when two people intentionally let God shape their hearts together.
One of the best things couples can do is open the Word of God together and pursue wisdom together. Proverbs has so much practical truth for communication, conflict, patience, humility, and love.
If you want a stronger marriage, don’t just work on the relationship. Let God work on both of you.
“By wisdom a house is built…” — Proverbs 24:3

From the very beginning, God’s design for marriage was simple but powerful:
“Leave… and cleave.”

Cleaving means more than just staying married. It means holding tightly to one another. Staying connected. Refusing to drift.

In a world that pulls couples in a hundred different directions, cleaving says:
“We’re in this together.”

It shows up in the everyday moments:
Choosing to talk instead of shutting down
Leaning in instead of pulling away
Working through conflict instead of avoiding it
Standing side by side instead of keeping score

And here’s the truth we’ve seen over and over:
Stress doesn’t have to divide a marriage… it can actually deepen it. When couples stay close during hard seasons, those moments become turning points instead of breaking points.

You learn about each other.
You support each other.
You grow stronger together.

Hard times can either push you apart or pull you closer.
Cleaving chooses closer.

Don’t waste the hard seasons. Use them.
Let them refine your love, strengthen your bond, and remind you… You’re not facing life alone.

If you could sit down with your younger self at the beginning of your marriage, what would you say?
We’ve learned that the early years, even when money was tight and everything felt uncertain, were shaping something deeper than we realized. And one of the best things we discovered was this: listen to understand, not to win. You’re not opponents. You’re learning together.
We’d love to hear your advice. Leave a comment with what you would tell your younger self, and feel free to share this with a couple who might need the encouragement.

Here’s a funny for you… 🤣

But seriously no one should keep a record of what has or hasn’t been said. We encourage people to give each other the benefit of the doubt. Plus 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says…

Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not arrogant, is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not irritable, and does not keep a record of wrongs. Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

That’s some sound marriage advice.
