Last Sunday was one of those days I will never forget.
Three months ago, I had the privilege of leading Darrel to the Lord over the phone. This past Sunday, I had the joy of seeing him follow the Lord in believer’s baptism.
Daryl is a veteran who served as a side gunner on a Black Hawk helicopter. He was shot down over Beirut, was wounded, and survived what two of his fellow soldiers did not. For his service and sacrifice, he received both a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
Because Darrel is confined to a wheelchair, he could not be baptized in our regular baptistery. So we made an outdoor setup that would allow him to take this step of obedience. Then the rain came — hard. We set up tents, adjusted the plans, and kept going.
The weather did not stop him.
The wheelchair did not stop him.
The inconvenience did not stop him.
Darrel wanted to obey the Lord, and he did.
What a testimony and what a challenge to all of us. May we never use excuses to avoid obedience when God is calling us to take the next step.

Due to the forecast the service and lunch will be indoors. Don’t forget to bring a dessert. Lunch is being catered by City Barbecue.

The timing of the rain tomorrow could have an affect on the Riverside service. We are asking everyone to bring their chairs and we will make a final decision in the morning. Do not forget to also bring a dessert. We will have dinner after service regardless of whether it is inside or outside. Looking forward to seeing you there.
