Our heartfelt condolences to the Byrd and Riley families. Alice has now reached the place she worked so faithfully and selflessly to get to—her heavenly home.
Alice, known lovingly to us as Mama Byrd, was far more than a member of our church; she was a foundation, a prayer warrior, and a living testimony of unwavering faith. For many, many years she poured her heart into God’s house. Her presence brought peace, her service was tireless, and her big, bright smile could light up a room the moment she walked through the doors. She loved the church, she loved God, and she believed with her whole heart in what God could and would do.
Scripture tells us, “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord” (Matthew 25:23). We have no doubt those words were spoken as she entered into His presence. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). We can only imagine her reunion—her eyes wide and sparkling, her smile radiant, finally home in the arms of her Savior.
While heaven has gained a precious soul, our church family feels a deep and painful loss. Alice, you will be dearly missed. Your love, your faith, and your legacy will continue to live on in our hearts and within these church walls for generations to come.
We lift the Byrd and Riley families in prayer and remembrance. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). We love you all!
