Trinity United Church of Christ in Basye, Va. We are a small , country church with open doors and open hearts. Our doors are open to every one.

Trinity United Church of Christ was originally known as Powder Springs Union Church. It began in 1858 in the old school house which was used until 1954. Construction began on the current church in 1953 and was completed in 1954. A Large addition for pastor's office, a library, Sunday School rooms was added at a later date. We are currently served by Pastor Steve Woods and have services every Sunday morning beginning at 9:30 am.

Good morning friends of Trinity Powder Springs UCC . I have not posted for a while so this may be a bit long. We hope everyone has had a good summer and is looking forward to some nice fall weather.

A reminder that today there will be an Ooen House at Bird Haven for the public to share in the story of the Shenandoah Woodworkers at Bird Haven . It is just off Alum Springs Rd, watch for signs.

We are starting into our busy season at church. We have a lot of activities during the fall and upcoming holidays. Our first event is HOMECOMING. This will be held on Sunday Oct 12 with service at 10 am. Our guest speaker will be Dr Greg Byrd. We will have Communion and a covered dish lunch to follow. Please come and share the day with us. We welcome all former members or families of members. Everyone is welcome, esp if you are looking for a church to attend and just have not found the right fit yet. We are small but still active in the lives of our members and community.
November 15 we will have our annual Thanksgiving dinner to honor the Search Group Home family. This is at 10 am and we will have lunch after. All are welcome to attend .
Dec 19 we will have the Wreaths Across America ceremony at 12 noon. There will be light refreshments after the ceremony. Come inside to have some hot chocolate or coffee and enjoy a moment looking over the veterans photos with family information displayed in our Social Hall. Anyone wishing to participate in this by laying a wreath on a veterans grave, family or friend or just as a volunteer may contact our pastor, Steve Wood, for more info or to sign up.
Sunday Dec 20 we will have Christmas Candlelight Service at 7pm. There will be a soup and sandwich supper at 5:30 before the service.
Please mark your calendars and we hope you will join us for these events.
Now....if you notice if you look at our face book page that you are seeing all kinds of posts and advertising garbage.... I do not know how to stop this from occurring. There are also lots of postings from other Trinity churches that ARE NOT US, some very negative and I am considering closing the page so if you do not see any posts from us this is the reason. I will post on my personal page and we will go from there.
I am trying to figure out a way to post our events and things without having to go thru this, possibly thru the church website.

Good early morning friends of Trinity UCC! What a beautiful blessing we had in the rain this morning! Hope you enjoyed hearing and smelling it!
Just an update to everyone about our annual church picnic. We usually have it at Edinburg Park. This year the picnic will be held at the church. We will have tables outside as well as eat in the social hall if you prefer. The reason for this change is mostly because of the weather...last couple years have been brutally hot at the park. But also we have to transport so much stuff to the park from the church, which is getting harder for us each year. So remember SUN
JUNE 21 4PM PICNIC AT TRINITY UCC. 318 ALUM SPRINGS RD BASYE. PLEASE JOIN US, EVERYONE WELCOME.

We will be serving the West Shenandoah Ruritan Club on Tues June 16. We always enjoy their company and look forward to serving them.
Also please say a little prayer for us as our church decides about another large repair. We have to replace the roof as it is very old and starting to lose shingles. We have a quote and will be making the final decision soon.
Also it is mowing season again. Our mowing prices have increased due to high fuel costs. Anyone who has family buried at Trinity and would like to see our cemetery kept up nicely we would greatly appreciate any and all donations. We are also going to have some tombstones repaired that have fallen off the bases and this is an added expense as well. You may send donations to :

Good morning friends of Trinity UCC and it is a beautiful spring day, a bit chilly but spring is on the way!
We had a lovely Easter Sunrise Service yesterday with around 45 people attending! We had Communion which is always special but even more touching on Easter day. A special thank you to Braden Foltz for helping with Communion and the offering and to Madison Barb for reading our scripture. We love our young people so much!
Also a huge thank you to our wonderful ladies who always turn out so much food when we have meals. It is so very appreciated.
We have decided to not have our annual bake sale, with white beans and ham sandwiches and yard sale this May. We are getting fewer of us and it is a huge job. We will miss seeing all our friends and neighbors who helped make it a success.
We will still be doing dinner for the West Shenandoah Ruritan club in April and in June of this year. We always enjoy serving them.
Also we will be having our Annual church picnic at Edinburg Park in June. Will post date and time later. The last two picnics have been brutally hot so we have considered having it at church in the AC but as of now that has not been decided.
Thanks to all who take time to read about us and who come to help us worship each week or on special occasions. We need everyone to keep Trinity alive and a part of our community.

Due to our parking lot being a sheet of ice😅 and the forecast of very cold wind and wind chills on Sunday morning we will not be having services tomorrow.

Good morning friends of Trinity UCC. A cold one for Sue, had 6 degrees earlier.
Due to the incoming weather , snow and possible sleet our services will be canceled for tomorrow. We will reschedule our annual congregational meeting as well.

Good morning friends of TrinityUCC! A cool start but going to get COLD later on. Everyone we stay warm!
Just want to thank everyone for a great turn out for Wreaths Across America yesterday. Such a nice day to honor our veterans. Thank you Pastor Steve and Brenda Funkhouser for a very nice service. A big thanks to Tom and Leslie Carr for the logistics that make it work!! Thank you to the wonderful ladies who always help in the kitchen and esp with clean up.
Our next event is Candlelight Service on Dec 21 at 7pm. Don't forget to come early for a soup and sandwich supper at 530. We look forward to seeing everyone and sharing the Christmas blessings in our beautiful little church.

Good morning friends of Trinity UCC! A frosty cold Sat morning, hope you are staying warm!
Fall has passed and winter is approaching, we have enjoyed having our Homecoming in Oct and our Thanksgiving dinner for the Search Group Home in November.
Next up on our agenda is Dec 13th, Wreaths Across America ceremony. We will begin our service at 12 noon with a brief blessing of the wreaths, then the laying of wreaths on the graves of our veterans. We have 52 in our cemetary. If you have done this before we encourage you to come and share this time with us again. If you have not but would like to be involved please call Pastor Steve at 540 975 0345 for more information. The social Hall will be open for coffee, cocoa and light refreshments at 11 and after the ceremony.
On Dec 21 we will be having our Candlelight Service at 7pm. There will be a free soup and sandwich supper at 530 before the service. Please come join us for both.
We look forward to seeing everyone at these events.

Good afternoon friends of Trinity Powder Springs UCC .
We want to thank everyone for coming to our Homecoming today. A special thanks to Rev Marilyn Heishman for leading our worship and communion and to Joe Lehnen for the message today. We had about 36 or so people today.
Also a big thanks to all who brought food and what a bunch of food it was! Thanks to all my "girls" at church who always pitch in to cook, clean and help however is needed. I love you all!
We were so glad to have Pastor Steve with us today. He is improving each day and we hope he will soon be back with us . We miss him.
