This winter storm has been a real challenge for everyone. The falling rain/sleet/snow has stopped and the sun is out, but we will have temperatures back in the area of 16-19 degrees again tonight. Because of hazardous road conditions as well as iced over parking lots, Care & Hope Ministry Thrift Store is closed until further notice. There is just too much ice on the sidewalk and the parking lot to be open right now. Perhaps, in a couple more days, we can open back up where all our customers will be safe

When the ice is melted and we do reopen our thrift store, we will resume our half price sale on everything in the store to help you gather up necessities you need to stay warm in this cold weather for a fraction of the cost you would pay at regular retail stores. So when we are able to open, come get the bargains! See you soon!

Our friends from Southwest Alabama came with 325 filled backpacks and ready to minister to children and parents who were present to receive the wonderful things provided for everyone. Thank you Washington County Baptist Association for being such generous and loving people and for your wonderful work done here in our community. Hope to see you next year!

Care & Hope Ministry 11th annual Christmas Backpack Distribution was held Saturday, December 14, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Bastrop with over 400 people attending. The program Provided Christmas Backpacks Backacks filled with gifts, school supplies, clothing, hygiene items and candies were distributed to 300+ children from ages 2-17 who live-in Morehouse Parish. In addition to backpacks, the children received Bibles from the Gideons of Morehouse Parish, toys, clothing, bed linens, socks, and the head of household received a coupon for a baking hen donated by patrons of Super One foods in Bastrop. Other donors were Louisiana Baptists Children's Home, Morehouse Baptist Association and supporting Baptist churches as well as the Washington Baptist Association of Washington County, Alabama who provided the filled backpacks and assisted with the distribution of all the donated items.
