There are some people who are always willing to step in, lend a hand, and serve wherever they can, and Vickie is one of those people.

This week’s Serve Spotlight is Vickie!

Vickie oversees our Intentional Women’s Ministry Team, where she and the ladies on her team make a point to check in on those who have been absent, sick, or simply need a little encouragement. It is a ministry built around caring for people and reminding them that they are seen and loved.

She also serves faithfully as a member of our Worship Team, greets those coming through our doors, and is always willing to help when something is asked of her. No matter the task, Vickie has a heart that is willing to serve and a genuine desire to help wherever she can.

We are so thankful for the many ways Vickie gives of her time, encourages others, and helps make Bassett Worship Center a welcoming and caring church family.

Thank you, Vickie, for your faithful heart, your willingness to serve, and for all the ways you pour into the people around you. We appreciate you more than you know!

Today we join so many others in remembering the life and legacy of Dolly Parton.

Dolly was known around the world for her music, but she was also never ashamed to speak about her faith in Jesus Christ. She often pointed back to the faith she was raised in and used her voice to sing about the hope found in Him.

She once said, “I just think that we should just be praising God a little more than we are, to just glorify Him more.”

What a reminder for all of us.

Dolly used what she had been given to bless others, help those in need, and make a difference in countless lives. Today we pray for her family, friends, and all those mourning her loss.

As we remember her, we share one of her most powerful songs, “He’s Alive.” Its message is the same today as it has always been:

Jesus Christ is alive. The grave could not hold Him, and because He lives, we have hope beyond this life.

May we take Dolly’s words to heart and praise God a little more, glorify Him a little more, and never be ashamed of where our hope is found.

Everyone Has a Place

“Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them.”
Romans 12:6 NKJV

A classroom works best when students, teachers, staff members, and families each take responsibility for their part. In a similar way, the church is strongest when every person is willing to use what God has given them. Church was never intended to be a place where a few people do everything while everyone else watches. God created His church to be a body in which every person has value and purpose.

Romans 12 reminds us that our gifts are different because God’s grace works through us in different ways. Some people feel comfortable standing in front of others, while others prefer serving quietly behind the scenes. Some welcome people at the door, teach children, sing on the praise team, prepare meals, clean rooms, pray faithfully, or help wherever there is a need. Every act of faithful service matters to God.

You may feel that your gift is too small or that someone else could do the job better. However, God is not asking you to become someone else. He is asking you to faithfully use what He has placed in your hands. When each of us serves with a willing heart, the church becomes a clearer picture of the love of Jesus.

This week, I challenge you to pray, “God, show me where You want me to serve, and give me a willing heart to say yes.”

You don’t have to have a title to make a difference. Sometimes you just have to be willing.

This week’s Serve Spotlight: Teen Edition is Leighton Harding, and if there’s something that needs to be done around BWC, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll find him somewhere in the middle of it.

From refilling Connect Cards, Giving Envelopes, and pens, helping get BWC Kids ready each week, leading kids worship, serving in our Sound Ministry, and helping with special events… to something as simple as grabbing a vacuum when it needs to be done, Leighton is always willing to jump in and help.

But one of the things we appreciate most is the example he sets for our kids. They get to see someone a little older than them worship, serve, lead, and still take the time to laugh with them and love on them.

Leighton, thank you for being willing to serve wherever you’re needed. We’re proud of the young man you’re becoming and thankful for the difference you’re already making at BWC. Keep serving, keep leading, and keep letting God use you! ❤️
