Summit Adventure uses experiential education, adventure, service and cross-cultural immersion as tools to move individuals and groups out of their comfort zone and into more reliance on God and each other. Since 1973 our participants have told us that their experiences have been transformational, whether domestically in Yosemite, Joshua Tree, West Virginia and Death Valley or internationally in Ec

uador, Mexico and the Holy Land. Summit works with a wide range of groups, including youth, college students, parents, adults, and individualis with physical and mental disabilities. Although our courses vary, typical course components may include backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering, rappelling, orienteering, trekking, cultural immersion and service.

Hello summer 2025!

We're eager to shake off the quiet of winter and start a new summer season with 16 students from California State University Northridge, who arrived yesterday to experience the ultimate Summit Adventure. Their action-packed itinerary includes climbing in the Balls, rappelling the Prowl, hiking to Jackass Lake, and exploring expressive writing. This summer we took the star of the show Park’d -Abby Hornacek and her film crew for an adventure. The show is about to air for any of you interested. We spent the day with Abby and film crew giving her a climbing/rappelling experience on the infamous rock formation-the Prowl!

So if you want to see Tom/Summit Adventure and of course the Star of the show Abby explore Yosemite, surrounding area please tune in!

We're excited to announce our foray into the guiding world the last few summers providing unique experiences that empower individuals to grow and thrive.

James, a recent guest at Summit Lodge, took on an unforgettable adventure with guide Tom at his side. Together they climbed Madera Peak and the Notch, climbed and rappelled the Toad and Prow and ended with a 4 pitch ascent of Fresno domes South pillar.

At Summit Adventure we create transformative experiences for those seeking personal growth and development through a unique blend of adventure, contemplation, and prayer. James left with a renewed sense of passion and purpose.

A few pics from day of filming with show Park’d. 

Summit Adventure spent today with Park’d film crew and star of the show Abby Hornacek. It is a series of shows on the National Parks. This was the final show and we were hired to take Abby off the Prow, an awesome backcountry rappel. Was cool watching the 6 person crew with all their video, camera equipment create footage for the show. A great experience and a professional, fun, down to earth film team. 😊 Our executive director Tom Smith was interviewed, Carey was on deck working with the crew and Summit received some great air time When show is released we will share the information!
And a shout out to James who was on course himself and gave a hand to helping with the day!

Merry Christmas and Happy new year from Summit Adventure and Summit Lodge!

Thank you to all who supported us whether coming on a Summit Adventure course, staying at the Summit Lodge, instructing, volunteering, donating, praying! Where would we be without you?

We are so thankful for God walking beside us through the ups and downs of this life. It’s quite the ride!

We pray this year brings you hope in midst of life’s difficult days, forgiveness, reconciliation and love for others, courage when your facing giants, and growth that brings you closer to faith in God who chose you as worthy of His suffering. We are all in a world where it’s hard at times to believe. One day He will wipe every tear. Until then hold on friends even if it’s to the hem of His garment. 🎄🎉🙏

Child’s body is yet turned away but dad is patiently waiting.

I suspect God is like that. Arms open waiting for us to turn around and see him. ❤️ Ready to embrace us.

A fantastic group of 70 souls spent time in the wilderness TOGETHER. Fathers with their sons/daughters Adventuring; hiking, climbing, rappelling, bonding over shared experiences.
God yet uses the wilderness to shape and teach us.
We are thankful to have met each person. We pray for each of you and hope the memories formed stay with you in a powerful way through the years!
