Heat Up the Winter: St. James Men of Charity Host 16th Annual Chili & Chowder Cook-off
The St. James Men of Charity (MOC) are inviting the community to come in from the cold and turn up the heat at their 16th Annual Chili & Chowder Cook-off for Charity. This beloved local tradition is set to take place on Saturday, January 31st, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the St. James Chapel Auditorium.
The evening promises a culinary showdown, offering attendees the chance to sample and judge a robust field of 15 chilis and 9 chowders. The entries are prepared by talented local home chefs, including several past prize-winners returning to defend their titles against promising newcomers. After tasting, guests will cast their votes to determine this year’s favorites.
Beyond the competition, the event is designed as a festive night out for the community. The ticket price includes beer, wine, and soft drinks to accompany the tasting. Local musical favorites Kevin and Deb Moulton will provide live entertainment throughout the evening. As in years past, the event will also feature a Tricky Tray Raffle and a Silent Auction with a variety of prizes.
While the evening is focused on fun and food, the cause is serious. Proceeds from the Cook-off will directly benefit local acts of kindness and the Metuchen Diocesan Seminarians. For over 18 years, the St. James Men of Charity have been dedicated to providing financial and spiritual assistance to individuals and families in need within the community.
Tickets are priced at $50 if purchased by January 25th, and $60 thereafter. The Men of Charity invite all residents to enjoy this fun community evening in support of these worthy causes.
