At BAM Club, we explored the meaning of a mitzvah and how each mitzvah is an opportunity to connect with Hashem. As we become Bar and Bat Mitzvah, we take on a new level of ownership and responsibility for the mitzvot we do. It’s not just about doing a mitzvah, but recognizing the connection behind it. ✨

Struggles, choices, decisions...we all know how hard it can be sometimes to make the right choice. We may even feel the inner battle of two conflicting voices inside of us! Today in Hebrew school we learned about the famous story of Adam and Eve and their mistake in eating from the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden. We discussed how difficult it was for Chava (Eve) to listen to her Neshama and resist the enticing snake who did a really good job at convincing her to eat from the forbidden tree. We all face similar challenges in our own lives. Though we don’t have to deal with a sly snake like Chava did, we each have our own “inner tricky snake”-known as the Yetzer Hara, who works hard to convince us to make choices that are not in line with our Neshama and the Torah.

Our students reenacted the story through a life size snake who came to visit our class! To help empower our students to listen to their Neshama and overcome the temptations of the tricky and sly Yetzer Hara, we designed beautiful tote bags with inspirational and meaningful messages, using cool blow pens and filled the bags with different ways to make good choices! We also practiced our Bracha of Mezonot with a delicious cereal and milk bar for snack… it was a hit!

In Hebrew School this week, we learned all about CREATION! What a beautiful and magnificent world we live in! From colorful flowers to breathtaking sunsets, from the tiny creatures all around us to the marvel of the human body – Hashem is the creator of it all.
Today, we learned the very first story in the Torah: the story of how Hashem created the world and all that is in it. We discussed how Hashem did not just create the world in six days and then leave it alone – He is constantly recreating it every single moment! Knowing that Hashem is the constant creator of the world reassures us that we are in good hands and that He is taking care of everything so perfectly.
To remind us of this important message, we made our very own super cool Needohs and creation sensory bottles. Squeeze those Needohs and remember: with Hashem in charge, we don’t have to worry! What’s your favorite creation in this amazing world??

Who am I? I teach you how to live your best life, guide every Jew, and connect you to Hashem. It’s the Torah!
Today we introduced this year’s curriculum, “Bereish*t – Story of Our Lives.” We explored the Torah as Hashem’s greatest gift to us, a guidebook for living meaningful Jewish lives.

We learned about the Chumash, the five books of the Torah, which contain our Jewish family’s stories and the 613 mitzvos. We also discovered the many Torah books, written by great scholars and Rabbis, that help us understand its teachings. Today, Torah learning is more accessible than ever, through books, websites, and apps!

This year, we begin with Bereish*t, discovering the stories of our first Jewish mothers and fathers and the roots of our Jewish family.

We made beautiful Torah libraries our students today that remind us that the Torah is our very own treasure, a gift we can explore anytime, anywhere, and a powerful way to connect to Hashem!
