Good Monday morning everybody. We begin the devotional series "What the Bible Says About Loving One Another" by Walt Larimore with "The Command That Changes Everything." In today's devotion we dig into John 13:34: "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." This means we are to love others the way Jesus loves us - sacrificially, unconditionally, to the point of death if necessary. This love will be how we will be known as disciples of Jesus.

Scripture readings - Leviticus 19:18, John 13:34, Romans 13:8

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, You set a standard I cannot reach on my own strength. Fill me with Your love so that what flows out of me toward others is not just human affection but something that looks like You. In Your Holy Name, Amen.

Good Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning everybody. We continue our message series "Blessed Trinity" with "The Father’s Heart" in which we debunk the idea that our Heavenly Father is distant, cold, or indifferent. Instead, he lovingly creates, provides, adopts, and invites His children into secure relationship with Himself. The Christian life begins to change when we stop trying to earn the Father’s attention and start living from the security of His love.

We close with this communal prayer: "Father, open our eyes to Your love today. Heal the places in us that have misunderstood You, resisted You, or kept You at a distance. Help us receive what You have revealed about Yourself through Your Word, and teach us to live as Your beloved children. AMEN.”

Good Friday morning everybody. We conclude the devotional series “We Want You Here” by Highland Church with “God Wants You Here." In today's devotion we are reminded that God is always extending us an invitation to either come into relationship with Him, or to go deeper in that connection. As we do, we come to realize that having God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in our lives is the world's greatest treasure. We close with the encouragement to remember that as we pray, “God, I want You here,” to hear His answer over us: “I want you here too.”

Good Thursday morning everybody. We continue the devotional series “We Want You Here” by Highland Church with “I Have Come Too Early." Today we use Friedrich Nietzsche's famous line "God is dead" in describing how when we drift away from God, we are in effect killing God's presence in our lives. Often the consequences are not immediately visible, but they are inevitable. That is why Scripture keeps telling us to keep actively pursuing God. We close with an invitation to reconnect with Jesus.

Reflection Questions: [1] Where might you be living off the afterglow of past closeness with God?

[2] What signs of drift do you need to pay attention to before they become obvious?

[3] What practice would help you reattach to the vine today?

Good Wednesday morning everybody. We continue the devotional series “We Want You Here” by Highland Church with “We Don’t Want You Here." In this devotion we discuss that while we often say "God I want you here," actually we mean the exact opposite. The reason is that our sinful nature does not naturally make room for God; it wants space for itself. We also then learn that if we stop intentionally moving toward Jesus, we do not stay neutral. We begin moving away because (and I loved this quote): "There is no cruise control in discipleship."

Reflection Questions: [1] Where do your actions reveal that you have been resisting God’s presence?

[2] What is the difference between desiring God and actively wanting Him?

[3] What area of your life needs to move from “God, I don’t want You here” to “God, You can have this”?

Good Tuesday morning everybody. We continue the devotional series “We Want You Here” by Highland Church with “When the Place Shakes." In today's devotion we discuss what occurred when James and Peter returned to the other followers of Christ after being arrested and threatened. What occurred was that they prayed together as the place where they were meeting was shaken, filling them all with the Holy Spirit who spoke the word of God boldly.

We are then challenged instead of asking “What did I get out of today?” to ask: “Who can I encourage? Who can I pray for? How can I serve?”

Reflection Questions: [1] Where have you confused attendance with real community?

[2] Who can you pray for out loud this week?

[3] How can you serve the body of Christ from calling rather than obligation?

Good Monday morning everybody. We continue the devotional series “We Want You Here” by Highland Church with “Not Me, But We." In today's devotion we discuss that while faith is deeply personal, it was never meant to be private. While God meets us individually, speaks to us personally, and calls each of us by name, He also designed something no solo experience can ever replace: the church. To clarify, "the church" is not a building but a people gathered together to worship God. We close with an invitation to step into community with fellow believers.

Reflection Questions: [1] Have you treated your faith as personal but also private?

[2] Are you near community, or are you truly in community?

[3] What is one step you can take this week to share life more deeply with the people of God?

Good Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning everybody. We begin a new message series titled "Blessed Trinity" with "One God. Three Persons." We begin by discussing that the Holy Trinity is not a theological puzzle to solve but God’s self-revelation to receive. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture reveals one God eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, inviting us into worship, relationship, and mission as we journey from this life into eternity.

Good Friday morning everybody. We continue the devotional series “We Want You Here” by Highland Church with “The Danger of Self-Sufficiency." In today's devotion we discuss how competence can become one of the greatest dangers in the Christian life. Through it, we can become accustomed to living a life without depending on Jesus. As we read twice because of its importance: "The Christian life is not about becoming impressive enough to function without God. It is about becoming surrendered enough to walk with Him in everything."

We ask these three questions: [1] Where have I been relying on my own ability more than God’s presence? [2] Where have I confused being capable with being dependent? [3] Where have I asked God to bless what I never invited Him to lead?

Reflection Questions: [1] Where have you become capable, but less dependent on God?

[2] What area of your life have you been managing without truly inviting Jesus to lead?

[3] What would it look like to practice dependence on God today?

Good Thursday morning everybody. We continue the devotional series “We Want You Here” by Highland Church with “Near Is Not the Same as Welcomed." In today's devotion we dig into the difference between believing in God and actually inviting Him into our lives. That is the danger of a God-branded life as we look like we are living a "Christian" life while actually not depending on Jesus. The good news is that Jesus is nearby, waiting for that invitation.

Reflection Questions: [1] Where have you been meaning to “make the call” with God, but have kept putting it off?

[2] Are there areas of your life where Jesus is near, but not truly welcomed in?

[3] What would it look like to open the door to Him again today?
