Backpacks packed, supplies sorted, hearts full. 🎒 Our volunteers spent the day at People's Resource Center in Wheaton helping prepare for their Back to School Drive — sorting and prepping school supplies for local students starting the year off right. Grateful for the chance to serve our neighbors and support the community around us.

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir had the honor of hosting an interfaith event, bringing together friends from the Christian, Islamic and Hindu faiths, in honor of 🇺🇸

We welcomed representatives from the:
• Baitul Ilm Academy (Streamwood, IL)
• Immanuel United Church of Christ (Streamwood, IL)
• The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Schaumburg, IL)

As United States celebrates its semiquincentennial, the evening was themed, "Shared Paths, United Hearts." The panel discussion revolved around how we can build understanding through shared values, bridging differences and building America's legacy.

We are grateful to all the participants who joined us in an evening to celebrate America250.

We were honored to participate in the 2026 Fourth of July parades in Bartlett and Des Plaines! 🇺🇸 Walking alongside our neighbors, the BAPS Chicago volunteers carried the spirit of service through the streets of the communities we call home.

Through walkathons, blood drives, food drives, mentorship programs and environmental cleanups, BAPS Chicago has long been committed to giving back to the city, and we're proud to stand among our neighbors as part of that shared story.

Happy Rath Yatra! "Rath Yatra" translates to "procession of chariots" — a Hindu tradition in which the murti (Sacred Image) of God is placed in a decorated chariot and drawn through the streets of the town, accompanied by devotees singing devotional songs, chanting prayers, and dancing joyfully.

The tradition traces its roots to the sacred city of Puri, where Bhagwan Shri Jagannath, Balabhadraji, and Subhadraji are each carried through the streets on their own towering chariot, hand-built each year, so all may receive darshan. The murtis leave their inner sanctum once a year to travel from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple.

We were honored to welcome the Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago to BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir Chicago as part of their annual Spiritual Field Trip to learn about sacred spaces across the Chicagoland area.

The students of the JSMC Pathshala learned about Hinduism, Indian architecture and the similarities between the faith traditions. Swamis spoke about the importance understanding and having integrity in one's identity and values.

We are grateful for the continued support and friendship with the Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago!
