“¡Feliz Día del Padre!” (“Happy Father’s Day!”) were the words that greeted Annette and I yesterday morning as we arrived at Pastor Fredis' church- Iglesia Fuente de Vida in St. Joseph, Missouri.

The worship service was a great reminder of God's love and faithfulness as a Heavenly Father. I had the privilege of preaching from Matthew 6:9–14. God loves it when we call him Father. In this community of faith, they are not afraid to love on fathers and meet them where they are. Including giving a meaningful gift to all of the Father's.

At the close of the service, I was asked to anoint the fathers with oil and pray over them. As I listened and prayed, I was reminded that the needs represented in that room were many. Yet I left confident that our Heavenly Father heard every prayer and is already at work on their behalf.

What a joy to worship with this wonderful congregation and celebrate the fathers who are seeking to lead their families in faith. May God continue to bless the men of Iglesia Fuente de Vida (and everywhere throughout the world) as they follow Him and point others to Christ. !

This morning at 9 am, we will gather to pray. We will be praying for the Tri-State District pastors, churches, chaplains, missionaries, and ministries. And we will be praying for Youth Camp at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. We'd love to pray for you, too!

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST from Wesleyan brothers and sisters in the Philippines. There was a magnitude 7.8 earthquake off Mindanao. Early reports indicate that most of our churches in the affected area are totally collapsed. I will update with more details as they become available. Tsunami warnings have been issued for the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan. Please pray for God to work mercifully and mightily in and through His people during this time of crisis. May He bring comfort and hope to the church and through the church in the midst of tragedy.
