Before we start our annual planning meeting (detailing out a rough draft of activities and adventure for the coming year), we take a moment to open the floor to all the boys, dads, and leaders for any activity, game, event, adventure, or more, no matter how big or small, to see how great a year we can reach!

July 10-11 we did a camp in at Calvary Chapel. Theme was games and we played a lot of them. But we had an important activity, a flag retirement ceremony.
A lot of what we teach the boys is of skills and purpose, but some aspects of life require understanding heritage, intrgirty, respect, and honor.
That night, our scout troop took the time to stoke a hot fire in our pit and assemble a number of flags that have been graciously given to us for this purpose.
According to US Flag Code, we respect the flag from creation to retirement. To show honor to what our flag represents. The country and its founding, but also the endurance of our people and the lives given for our society.

The boys were respectful and helpful in the ceremony, could not be more proud of their participation.

That’s the thing about adventure: it takes you places you never thought you’d go. It stretches you. Strengthens you. And sometimes, it leads you to mountain tops you never thought you’d reach.

For the dads and sons joining the adventure with Trail Life, what starts as a modest backpacking trip often turns into something far greater.

Adventure involves steep climbs, sore feet, and tired legs. But for every valley, there’s a peak—each one reached through the encouragement of fellow Trailmen and the strength the Lord provides.

And the camaraderie and confidence gained through adventures like these is simply irreplaceable. Richard, a Troop leader in Georgia, summed it up well: “It was just a short backpacking trip over a day and a half, but for these young men and their dads—especially for these first-time backpackers—it was conquering the world!”

And that is the heart of Trail Life USA. Adventure is not defined by the height of the mountain or the severity of the conditions, but by the courage to take the next step.

Every great expedition begins with that first step. And sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is begin.
