Second Sunday of Pentecost and Communion Sunday

Pastor Margaret gave the sermon ~ “The Journey to Believe in God”.

Deacon Steve Morrall read from scripture Matthew 9:9-13 and 18-26.

Pastor Margaret read from scripture Romans 4:13-22.

Organist ~ Deborah Page
Choir director ~ Karla Peterson

We all have our journey with God. We also have our disappointments. If we prayed more, followed the Bible more, things would be different. God’s grace overcomes all uncertainties and changes we did not expect. Our journey is all about God and how he showed up in our lives. Jesus showed mercy and compassion to those who were sick. He brought people who were rejected by society into his circle. Jesus healed emotionally and spiritually.

We continue our spiritual journey. Our journey may take us other places, we will see other things, we will meet other people, and other souls will touch us.

Amen! 🙏🏼

Pastor Margaret gave the children’s sermon. Second Sunday after Pentecost.

We learn from the Bible that people believe in God and Jesus. Because God, or Jesus, appeared to them, or spoke to them. God promised Abraham a new land. Abraham believed God. Abraham left his home in Ur. Abraham arrived in the Promised Land.
Jesus visited the tax collectors. Jesus did not judge them. Jesus called Matthew, one of the tax collectors, to follow him. Matthew believed in Jesus. A man came to Jesus to raise his daughter from the dead. He believed in Jesus. Jesus raised the daughter from the dead. God and Jesus wanted to show them they had a purpose. God and Jesus wanted to show them that God is real. They learned that God and Jesus are compassionate. Today we believe in Jesus because he showed us how to love, showed kindness, taught us how to pray, and He calls for peace. Together, we can make the world a better place for God and others.

Amen! 🙏🏼

Pentecost Sunday ~ Pastor Margaret gave the children’s sermon.

On the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit came upon the first Christians in the form of tongues of fire. The Holy Spirit came upon Jesus at His baptism in the form of a Dove. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of Jesus. The Holy Spirit of God and Jesus is with us always. The Holy Spirit wants to help us every day to be loving, kind, peaceful, to pray, and to have faith. We can be peaceful. Try not to argue too much. Say “I am sorry”. We can pray for our loved ones, our neighbors, our church, and for the world. We can be joyful. Sing at home, appreciate nature, and be friendly. Together, we can make the world a better place for God and others.

Amen! 🙏🏼
