Join MIRA, the ACLU of MA, and Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) for a conversation on the PROTECT Act’s new protections involving ICE, local law enforcement, and Massachusetts courthouses.

Learn what has changed, what the law does—and doesn’t—do, and what these protections mean in practice for immigrant communities. Future trainings will be scheduled to provide information on other sections of the PROTECT Act.

For some students, teachers, families, and school communities, the new school year is already underway. For others, those first days are just around the corner.

As another school year begins, we’re thinking especially of the students, educators, staff, caregivers, and families stepping into new classrooms, campuses, routines, relationships, and expectations.

May our schools be places where every person is welcomed in the fullness of who they are—places where students and educators are safe, where curiosity is nurtured, differences are honored, and everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and belong.

In the words of Rev. Debra Haffner’s blessing, "A New Year for Beloved Community":

Join us for the sixth annual Wampanoag Heritage Day, a fun-filled celebration of Wampanoag culture at Heritage featuring a variety of activities on August 22 from 10 am-2 pm, including:

-11:30-12:15: Watch a performance by the Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers of eastern social songs and dances (with audience participation encouraged!)
-Craft a corn husk doll to take home
-Explore the wetu, a reproduction of a historic dwelling, the mush8n, a reproduction dug-out canoe, and the Three Sisters demonstration garden, all created in collaboration with local -Wampanoag partners
-View and learn about historic Wampanoag artifacts found on the land that is now Heritage Museums & Gardens
-Visit a native artisan to shop for handcrafted contemporary wampum jewelry

All activities are free with museum admission or membership.
