Parkton Assembly Of God

Parkton Assembly Of God Parkton Assembly of God is "A Place For You". In 1954 Rev. Horridge rented the old union hall in Barnhart and started services there.

In 1955 God spoke to him and he decided to build a church. He bought one and half acres from Homer Price Real Estate Company and had the basement dug. This was made into a place of worship equipped with a few chairs, a Bible stand, and a piano. Antonia valley covers a radius of fifty-five square miles. The small drainage canal is the only outlet for all the rain that falls in the valley. In June,

1957 the heavy rains came! Glaize Creek got out of its banks and washed away everything in its path. One whole side of the basement was washed away. Brother Horridge was not discouraged. He immediately started to rebuild the basement. Many of the ministers in the area, members, and friends of the church rallied to the cause. In July 1957 the basement was back in order and services resumed. In July 1958 another flood came. This one did so much damage that they had to vacate. Ruby King lived across the road from the site, she opened her home and services were held there until the basement could be rebuilt. Brother Horridge's vision and his desire to obey the voice of the Lord never waned. He had a vision, he loved people, and he hada burden for the lost. So he began to work toward a church building. After flood number two and all the repairs were made, it was 1960. He secured a loan from his sister, Happy Bender, and started a building which became, "The Little White Church".

Day 5: Communion and Connection: 1 Corinthians 11:23-29; John 15:1-11: Paul received instruction about communion directly from the Lord, though he wasn't in the upper room. This reveals a profound truth: you can have personal fellowship with Jesus and receive guidance directly from Him. Communion isn't merely a ritual; it's an opportunity to examine your heart, confess sin, and renew your covenant with Christ. The broken bread symbolizes His body given for you; the cup represents the New Testament promises now available through His blood. You weren't present at Calvary, but you can experience intimate fellowship with the risen Christ today. Examine yourself. Is anything hindering your relationship with Him? Confess it, receive forgiveness, and walk in newness of life. God's fingerprints are upon you—live accordingly.

Day 4: Standing on Holy Ground: Exodus 3:1-6; Hebrews 10:19-22: Moses encountered God at the burning bush and learned he stood on holy ground. Today, through Christ's sacrifice, we stand in God's presence with confidence. In His presence, there is joy beyond measure and peace that surpasses understanding. When you feel distant from God, remember that He invites you to grope for Him and find Him. Those desperate moments when you cry, "God, if You don't show up, I cannot continue"—He is there. You are standing on holy ground every time you enter His presence through prayer. Remove the shoes of self-sufficiency and pride. Approach Him with reverence and expectation. His presence changes everything. You will never be the same when you truly encounter Him.

Day 3: From Darkness to Light: Acts 9:1-19; Acts 8:9-24: Saul of Tarsus persecuted believers until a divine encounter transformed him into Paul the apostle. Simon the sorcerer sought power but found salvation. Both men experienced God's fingerprints on their history, redirecting their paths. Perhaps you're carrying regret over your past—mistakes, wasted years, or wrong turns. God specializes in redemption stories. He can take the very things you fought against and transform them into your greatest testimony. Your history doesn't disqualify you; it positions you for God's purpose. The same power that changed Saul can change you. Repent of bitterness, release the past, and embrace the new identity God offers. Your story isn't finished—God is still writing.

Day 2: Divine Appointments: Acts 8:26-40; John 4:4-26: God orchestrates encounters that seem coincidental but are completely intentional. Philip's meeting with the Ethiopian eu**ch and Jesus' conversation with the woman at the well were divine appointments that changed lives forever. The next person you meet today may be part of a story God began writing long before you arrived. That "chance" meeting at the grocery store, the conversation with a seatmate on a plane, or the unexpected phone call might be God arranging an encounter. Don't dismiss these moments as random. Be attentive to the Holy Spirit's prompting. Ask God to open your eyes to recognize divine appointments and give you courage to step into them unafraid, knowing He has orchestrated every detail.

5-Day Devotional: The Fingerprints of God
Day 1: The Creator's Signature: Psalm 19:1-6; Genesis 1:26-27: The heavens declare the glory of God—from migrating pelicans to the unique fingerprint on your index finger. Just as no two fingerprints are identical, God has created you with distinctive purpose and design. You are not a mistake or accident, but an intentional creation bearing the image of the Almighty. When discouragement whispers that you're insignificant, remember that the God who numbered the stars knows you by name. He left His signature on your life. Today, examine your hands and thank God for making you unique. Ask Him to reveal the specific purpose He designed you to fulfill. You are His masterpiece, created with divine intention.

Day 5: Your Labor Is Not in Vain: 1 Corinthians 15:50-58; Hebrews 6:10-12: "Be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." These words breathe hope into weary servants. When you grow tired in well-doing, remember: God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love. Every prayer offered, every soul reached, every act of service matters eternally. You may plant seeds you'll never see harvested. You may build what others will complete. But heaven keeps records. Somebody's future breakthrough depends on your present obedience. Some future child may worship because you gave. Some future family may stand strong because you remained faithful. Don't grow weary. In due season, you shall reap if you do not lose heart.

Day 4: Building for Generations Yet Unborn: 1 Chronicles 22:1-5; Psalm 78:1-7: David gathered materials for a temple he would never build. He sacrificed for a generation after him, understanding mature faith means building what you may never fully see. This is the heart of generational faithfulness. Will your children and grandchildren know the Lord? Will they experience His goodness because you invested spiritually in their lives? Judges 2:10 warns of a generation that arose not knowing the Lord or His works. Don't let that be your legacy. Teach God's Word diligently. Live authentically before them. Pray fervently over them. Your faithful obedience today becomes their spiritual inheritance tomorrow. Who will worship in freedom because you remained faithful? Who will know Christ because you sacrificed?

Day 3: Empowered for Purpose: Acts 2:1-4, 37-41: The disciples waited in that upper room because Jesus promised power from on high. They understood they couldn't fulfill their calling in human strength alone. When the Holy Spirit fell at Pentecost, everything changed. Three thousand souls were added to the church that day because Spirit-filled believers boldly proclaimed Christ. You were created for good works that God prepared beforehand. Fulfillment comes not from pursuing your own agenda, but from walking in the works He designed specifically for you. Whether teaching Sunday school, serving in your workplace, or ministering in your neighborhood, you need Spirit empowerment. Ask God today to fill you afresh with His Spirit so you can become all He intended.
