A Welcome Back Cookout was held tonight at Union Commonwealth University, sponsored by the Knox Association of Baptists WMU, with approximately 400 students from the athletic department expected to attend.
“Our goal is to simply supply a great meal, build relationships, and let students know there are churches in our community that care about them and have missed them while they were gone,” said WMU President Sarah Gayle Watkins.
A huge thank you to the churches who supplied food, cooked, served, and helped make tonight possible: Locust Grove, Pleasant Ridge, Sinking Valley, New Bethel, Roadside Baptist, FBC Artemus, Springfield, Turkey Creek, Keck Baptist, Beacon Baptist, Liberty Missionary Baptist, and East Barbourville.
We are so thankful for these churches and their willingness to serve, for the students who joined us, and for Union Commonwealth University and the blessing it is to have this university in our community.
