Almighty God, who gave such grace to your apostle Andrew that he readily obeyed the call of your Son Jesus Christ, and brought his brother with him: Give us, who are called by your holy Word, grace to follow him without delay, and to bring those near to us into his gracious presence; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Have you met our Reverend?

The Rev. Dr. Michael A. Petrochuk is the 7th Rector Of Saint Andrew’s. Father Michael serves as our spiritual leader, and strongly believes in The Priesthood Of All Believers. As such, we all work together to proclaim the Good News.
He is a graduate of Bexley-Hall Episcopal Seminary, along with earning his Doctorate In Business Administration from Cleveland State University. Aside from serving Saint Andrew’s, he is a Professor and Director of the MBA Program At Walsh University.
In his free time, Father Michael likes to travel, play golf, read non-fiction, and tell corny jokes.

In 1902 – eleven years after the founding of Barberton – approximately one dozen families petitioned the Bishop of Ohio to establish a mission church. On April 10, 1902, the request was officially granted. The mission was organized by Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church (Akron). In the beginning, Saint Andrew’s met in various rented locations. During this time, local clergy, seminary students, and faithful laymen maintained services. In 1910, the mission church had thirty regular communicants.
In August of 1913, two lots were purchased on the corner of West Hopocan Avenue and Fifth Street. Construction began later that fall. The church building was officially dedicated on October 25, 1915. On July 1, 1919, the first resident priest-in-charge was appointed. The mission celebrated its 25th anniversary on October 24, 1927.

In December of 1949, Saint Andrew’s received permission to be granted parish status! The Bishop of Ohio made the official approval in January of 1950. Over these years, the parish had been growing and needed more space. As a result, ground was broken for an addition to the church. Construction began in 1955 and was officially dedicated on June 24, 1956. Over the years, the church acquired other properties for use as a parish office and additional parking. We celebrated our 100th anniversary on October 10, 2002.
Today, Saint Andrew’s continues to be a powerful witness to Christ within the City of Barberton, in our diocese, and throughout the world. While we have a proud past, our best years are ahead of us. We hope that you will become a member of our spiritual home and journey with us.

Great to see our community active and eager to meet new members.
