The Person in Front of You
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE ~ Luke 10:33 "But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him."
WALK WITH JESUS ~ I have a tendency to think ministry is always somewhere else. The next event. The next sermon. The next opportunity. The next person. But Jesus had a way of treating the person directly in front of Him as if they were the only person who mattered. He wasn't always looking ahead. He was fully present. When blind Bartimaeus called from the roadside, Jesus stopped. When Jairus begged for help, Jesus went. When children crowded around Him, He welcomed them. When the woman at the well came carrying shame instead of water, Jesus stayed for the conversation. He never made people feel like interruptions. He made them feel like they mattered. I've wondered how often I've hurried past the very ministry I was praying for. Sometimes we're so busy asking God to use us that we miss the person He's already placed beside us.
The next opportunity to love may not arrive with a microphone.
It may arrive with a quiet conversation. A listening ear. A simple act of kindness. A moment that no one else even notices. The Kingdom often grows that way. One person at a time.
SIT WITH JESUS ~ You're walking through a crowded street. People move in every direction. Everyone seems to have somewhere important to be. Then Jesus stops. He looks at one person. Not because they're important. Because they're loved. He turns toward you. "Who have you been walking past?" Don't answer too quickly.
Faces may begin coming to mind. Stay with Him.
AS FAR AS IT DEPENDS ON ME… Today I will give my full attention to the person God places in front of me.
PRAYER ~ Jesus, Slow me down enough to love the people You love. Help me stop seeing interruptions and begin seeing invitations. Teach me to believe that faithfulness is measured one person at a time. Amen.
BEFORE YOU GO… The next person you meet is never an accident.
Walk toward them with the love of Christ.
