Valle Crucis UMC

We’ve been waiting a long time to announce this: The Rededication / Re-opening Service for Valle Crucis UMC will take place on Sunday, December 6th at 9:00 am. Please join us for this wonderful and joyful time. We will celebrate and rededicate our church and celebrate Holy Communion as well. We would love to have all our families, friends, community members, government and school officials and anyone who volunteered to help rebuild our church in anyway join us on this day! It will be an awesome celebration of the rejuvenation of Gods church in the Valle!

Check out this great article about our church as we get closer to our re-opening after our two year renovation project following Hurricane Helene:

Valle Crucis United Methodist Church endured severe flooding during Hurricane Helene, which prompted a two-year restoration including lifting the building five feet above the floodplain and rebuilding its foundation and structure to prevent future damage.

I haven’t posted pictures in some time about the progress of our church. It has a long way and is looking absolutely beautiful. We all can’t wait until it is finally finished!

Happy Easter to All!

Our service today will not be Holy Cross Episcopal Church. If you are joining us this morning for Easter Sunday worship, our service will be at The Apple Barn on Highway 194 toward Banner Elk. If you are coming from Valle Crucis, it will be on the right in a big curve about 1-1.5 miles on the right.

Turn off of 194 and either turn left in the gate and drive across the grass or go on the dirt road around the small white house and turn left in the first gravel driveway.

Our service begins at 9:00 and we would love to have you with us today!

Feeling a need to act with abundant caution, we decided to cancel our Sunday Service again today, February 8, 2026. Many of our congregation live at higher elevations near Banner Elk and weren't feeling positive about going out earlier this morning. Hopefully we will be back in person next Sunday. So for today, here is our online Sunday Worship service

With snow and ice on the roads we cancelled our in person worship this morning. Here is today's, January 25, 2026, Scripture and sermon for today.

Peace and Blessings,

Pastor Mike

Things at our church are moving along nicely. The outside is covered—-so no visible holes from the lifting, and we now have sub-flooring completed throughout the Fellowship Hall and Sanctuary. The electricians have started their work with wiring of the outlets and light switches and installing the new power boxes. Plumbers are coming in this coming week. Heat and A/C company is giving us a quote to move forward. Work will start on the stage/pulpit area too.

It is starting to look the magnificent church it once was. Every day is one step closer!

our church has been lowered back down in its new foundation! Now renovation on the inside of the building can begin. Every day is one day closer to a fully repaired and renovated Valle Crucis UMC.

Follow the link below to read an upcoming article in the Faith and Leadership Magazine about Valle Crucis UMC and our cooperative relationship with our friends at Holy Cross Episcopal Church
over the past year since Hurricane Helene:

Two congregations, one United Methodist and the other Episcopal, have worked together since the devastating storm flooded one church and turned the other into a community relief center.
