Selma University holds a special place in my heart. đź’™

It’s more than an institution—it’s sacred ground, rich with history, faith, and the legacy of those who believed education and the Black church could change the world.

Serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Selma University has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside dedicated trustees, administrators, faculty, and staff who love this institution and are committed to seeing it thrive again.

Together, we have rolled up our sleeves and done the hard work—strengthening governance, supporting leadership, and walking faithfully through the process to reattain accreditation. This work hasn’t been easy, but it has been necessary. And more importantly, it has been done with integrity, collaboration, and a deep respect for Selma University’s historic mission.

My love for Selma University reflects my broader commitment to servant leadership—leading with vision, accountability, and faith in God’s ability to restore and renew. That same heart and commitment is what I bring as I submit myself to serve as President of the Alabama State Missionary Baptist Convention.

I believe in honoring our legacy while building a stronger future—and Selma University is living proof of that belief.

With prayerful consideration and a deep love for our Convention, I, Rev. Darryl Caldwell am humbly submitting myself as a candidate for the office of President of the Alabama State Missionary Baptist Convention.

This moment is rooted in faith, guided by vision, and driven by service. I am committed to strengthening our shared mission, equipping our churches, empowering leadership across generations, and building a Convention that is united, impactful, and forward-moving.
