Jessi Gilbert passed away four years ago today, On March 27th 2022. Jessi was a one of a kind harm reduction practitioner, who moved quietly and fiercely through systems designed to deny care to People Who Use Drugs. Jessi’s life was a pouring out of compassion towards others: every cost you could imagine, she poured it out. A quote from a friend’s remembrance: “My own connection with Jessi, like everyone that met her was immediately special and soulful. Never has anyone so quickly known me, and never have I recognized so quickly a soul I’ve met many times before...Jessi lived a life of service and the joy she experienced from this work and her relationship with the many people she helped and worked alongside allowed her to carry on through incredible grief and hardship, and the loss that is too familiar with those of us who use drugs and love people who use drugs. The things she did were holy and the life she lived was holy- and fully human. There are no other words than those that are sacred. She knew me ( and you) and loved me ( and you) just like I was ( and you are.) She loved every person she met just how they were and she met them where they were at. In every life she touched this spirit carries forth, creating an impact so vast it’s impossible to calculate. “

With all the busyness of the season, we wanted to pause a moment to give heartfelt thanks to our volunteers. Your offerings of labor, money, food and clothing have helped us to keep our most vulnerable community members warm, fed, connected, and alive.

Our programs have seen many great successes in recent months, which would have been impossible without you. Whether you have shown up to advocate with us in City Hall, staffed our emergency warming centers, cheffed it up with us on Taco Tuesdays, or shown up in other ways, we are grateful for you. Together, we will continue to save lives and protect the health of our communities.

Keep an eye out for upcoming community events, training and volunteer opportunities!

We will be closed this Friday Jan 30th
