In 1858 Abraham Lincoln gave his famous "house divided against itself" speech as a senate candidate. He took this statement from Jesus in Matthew 12:25 when He was accused of casting out demons in the power of Satan. We see this same struggle in the church today, as people in different denominations believe that their doctrine is the only true doctrine (remember the difference between dogma & doctrine). These stances drive division in the Church and that hinders the work of the Church. In our continued look at 2 Corinthians, we see Paul diving into some of this and how we should respond. It is in our nature to want people in our lives who understand us and are people we can trust to stand by us no matter what happens. We saw this in a classic movie and song, Stand By Me. What we see in Scripture is that there is One who will always be with us, no matter what and to the end of time. We see Paul cover this as we continue our look at 2 Corinthians.
