Throughout the year, RCC has the privilege of partnering with local ministries and organizations that are meeting real needs, building meaningful relationships, and creating opportunities for gospel witness across Baltimore.

Join us for our Community Partner Ministry Fair on Sunday, June 21, between services on the first floor. This will be a simple and meaningful opportunity to connect with several of our ministry partners, learn more about their work, and discover practical ways to pray, serve, support, and get involved.

His kingdom is not built by self-importance or outrage, but by humility, grace, and a heart shaped by Him.

Lord, make us a people who look more like Jesus.

A couple of weeks ago, Althea shared a simple and powerful testimony: before Jesus, she chased the kind of success the world celebrates. But when Christ changed her, He also changed what she lives for. Now, instead of building life around herself, she seeks ways to surrender to God and serve others.

That is where Luke 9 keeps pressing on our hearts.

We need that same correction, too. We are all tempted to protect our own name, chase our own version of greatness, and respond poorly when others do not receive us. But Jesus keeps calling us to lay that down and follow Him.

Join us tomorrow as we open Luke 9:49-56 together and ask the Lord to make us a people marked by His mercy.

Discipleship can be simple this summer… Open a 31-day devotional. Slow down to pray. Name what has been hidden. Invite the Lord into places where shame, conflict, discouragement, or uncertainty have taken root. Sit with a few brothers or sisters who also want to grow in Christ.

In July, our Men’s and Women’s Summer Discipleship Groups offer space for reflection, honest conversation, and growth in Christlikeness.

Each group will read a 31-day devotional. They will gather twice: once at the start and once at the end. These smaller groups help foster personal rhythms, meaningful connections, and gospel-centered encouragement.

Women will have the opportunity to choose from focused topics such as shame, marriage conflict, and singleness.

Men will walk through a study on shame, identifying the ways shame can rob us of freedom, joy, and connection with God and others, and learning to bring those places into the light of God’s grace.

Growth often begins when we stop hiding and start bringing our lives before the Lord in community.

Ever feel like you're running on 2% battery – spiritually? You're trying to parent, work, love, and serve, but you're doing it all in your own strength.

This Sunday's message from Luke 9:37-48 reminded us of a powerful truth: we're weaker than we think, but Jesus is stronger than we know.

The disciples came down from the mountaintop experience of the Transfiguration only to face chaos and failure in the valley. They couldn't cast out a demon because they forgot to depend on God's power. Sound familiar? We often say "I got this" when we should be saying "Jesus, I need you."

Here's the beautiful reality: Jesus doesn't just expose our weakness and pride – He meets us there with His strength and humility. The King of Glory came down to serve the least, the overlooked, the powerless. And He invites us to do the same. True greatness in God's kingdom isn't about climbing higher – it's about going lower in humble service.

We don't have to be the greatest because Jesus already is, and we're already loved by the One whose opinion matters most.

Our journey through Luke continues to show us that Jesus does not merely reveal His power from a distance. He draws near with compassion, speaks with authority, and calls ordinary people to follow Him with surrendered lives.

As the balmy days of summer settle in, we pray that each gathering, class, service opportunity, and shared moment in the life of our church becomes more than another event on the calendar. May the Lord use this next month to deepen our love for Christ, strengthen our life together, and send us into Baltimore to be His hands and feet!

God is opening the door for the next RCC church plant!

Join us this Sunday, June 14, at 1 PM on the first floor of RCC for the Southside Community Church (SoCo) Interest Meeting, led by Brandon and Melissa Sams!

This gathering is an opportunity to hear the heart and vision behind SoCo, learn how this new church will serve its community, and explore ways you can pray for, support, or potentially partner in this Kingdom work.

Whether you are simply curious, passionate about church planting, or prayerfully considering deeper involvement, this meeting is for you!

Last Sunday in Luke 9:28-36, we were reminded that Jesus is not merely a teacher to admire, but the glorious Son of God to worship and obey. On the mountain, the disciples caught a glimpse of His majesty. The Father’s voice made it plain: “This is my Son... listen to Him.”

But when we come to Luke 9:37-48, the scene changes quickly.

Jesus and His disciples come down from the mountain and step straight into the mess of everyday life: desperate need, spiritual oppression, weak faith, confusion, and quiet arguments about greatness. It is a striking reminder that the glory of Christ is not distant from the brokenness of this world. The same Jesus who shines in glory is the One who meets people in their suffering, confronts unbelief, and reshapes what greatness truly means in His kingdom.

That is good news for us.

Because we do not live on the mountaintop. We live in the middle of need, weakness, distraction, and the daily call to trust Jesus. And Luke 9 shows us that Christ is no less glorious there. He is powerful in the valley, too.

One week ago today, nearly 140 people from RCC spread throughout our city for CityServe 2026, bringing the love and light of Christ into our neighborhoods through simple, tangible acts of service.

Together, teams stocked a freezer for foster families, assembled cookie jars and cards, sorted donations for families preparing for initial placements, beautified our alley and neighborhood Tot Lot, picked up trash around our community and near Southside Community Church, served alongside 10:12 Sports, and sorted clothes at the National Federation for the Blind Headquarters.

And by God’s grace, CityServe became more than a day of projects. It became a day of conversations, invitations, and relationships. Several teams had the opportunity to share the gospel and invite neighbors to church, including an assigned DPW worker who served alongside one of our teams and said he planned to visit RCC the next day.

We also collected 1,078 non-perishable food items, creating 55 food bags for UMD families facing food insecurity. What a beautiful picture of the church caring for our neighbors with the tangible love of Christ. And congratulations to our CityYouth team for collecting the most food items and earning the pizza party!

A special thank you to Jess Pariso for coordinating such a meaningful day of service, and to every team lead, setup/check-in crew, cleanup team, prayer leader, behind-the-scenes helper, and every person who gave their time, energy, and love for the sake of our city. We are deeply grateful!

On the mountain, Peter, John, and James saw something they would never forget.

Jesus was transfigured before them. His glory was revealed. Moses and Elijah appeared beside Him. And in that holy moment, Peter wanted to honor all three.

But then the Father spoke from the cloud:

“This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to him.”

When the cloud lifted, Moses and Elijah were gone.

Jesus stood alone.

Luke wants us to see what the disciples had to learn: Jesus is not one voice among many. He is not one authority beside another. He is not Jesus plus our effort, Jesus plus our reputation, Jesus plus our comfort, or Jesus plus anything else.

Only Jesus saves.

Only Jesus satisfies.

Only Jesus accomplishes our salvation.
