As we celebrate the 17th Anniversary of the launch of the Village today, we want to recognize the man who started it all: Pastor Dan Hyun.  Towards the end of 2007 God began leading Pastor Dan to plant a church in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore.  Over the course of 2008 he assembled the core team, began meeting in homes, and after a few preview services the Village Church Baltimore was “launched” on Sunday September 14, 2008.

Over the next 16 years Pastor Dan led our congregation through ups and downs, civil unrest,  a pandemic, and spiritual warfare while still preaching the Gospel to the thousands and thousands of people that entered our sanctuary.  Our community is thankful for the time, energy, and sacrifice of him and his family.  They are a huge reason why our body is thriving after almost 2 decades.

Last Summer we completed our Lead Pastor transition with Pastor Dan literally handing a baton to Pastor Tim.  On July 14, 2024 we recognized his years of service with “A Celebration of Pastor Dan” (photos above).  This was a special event with tributes from Village partners past and present, fellow pastors, and video submissions from all over the country.  There was also a lot of food. 

Today we are thankful that Pastor Dan and his family are still an integral part of our faith community.  Here’s to 17 more years!
