Salem Lutheran Baltimore City Serving Riverside and all of south Baltimore, we are called to share faith, hope and God's love with everyone!

Salem is a congregation serving the Riverside section of South Baltimore. Although we identify as Lutheran (and are proud of our heritage), we welcome anyone who walks through our doors, regardless of where you come from on your journey of faith (or if you are a person still seeking faith).

Pastor Corey was at the Minnesota State Fair while on vacation last week but he couldn’t get away from Salem. In case you're interested "Swedish Egg Coffee" is made by putting a raw egg, shell and all into the coffee grounds when you brew the coffee. Not sure we'll be serving it anytime soon at Salem. Pastor Corey is back at Salem South Baltimore to lead service this Sunday at 10:30, all are welcome.

Pastor Corey is enjoying his vacation with family and friends in Minnesota for one last day so we welcome Pastor Lori Babcock from the Church of the Redemption in Locust Point to lead us in service this Sunday. Pastor Lori will be quickly making her way to Salem after service at Redemption ends. Service begins at 10:30 (unless traffic on the peninsula is really bad!). All are welcome to join us.

From the Financial Report of the Ladies Aid society, 1934. It must have been a bit of a tough year. They started the year with $91.52 and closed it with $18.32 but most of it was sent to the church treasury (plus $25 to the Pastor for Christmas.) We’ve installed a new kid’s area right in the sanctuary, a “Prayground” as it were. Now parents don’t have to step out to watch their kids play in the back of the church. Toys provided. Join us for service Sunday at 10:30. ALL are welcome at Salem Lutheran Church, at the corner of Battery and Randall streets, serving the Riverside neighborhood since 1885.

From the archives, here’s a letter that was sent to new members of Salem back in 1983 by a member of the church council pointing out significant dates in Salem’s past, the 1937 rebuilding of the church from a fire, the building of the Manse which is the Pastor’s residence in 1948 and the construction of the Sunday School space in 1955.
This Sunday Pastor Corey will lead our service at 10:30. The gospel this week is the story of Jesus walking on water and scaring the heck out of the disciples. Nothing scary about Salem, families with children are always welcome. Service starts at 10:30-ish. Salem Church at the corner of Battery and Randall, serving the Riverside community since 1885.
