Filbert Street Garden is teaming up with Chef Ky of for a monthly night of giving back! 💚

On August 21st, come join us in the kitchen at St. John’s as we prepare a delicious homemade soup for our . Together, we’re helping provide nourishing meals to our neighbors while supporting our local community. 🥣❤️

Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die."—John 11:25–26

We invite you to join us as we celebrate the life of James Edward Horst.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 23, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church.

For those who would like to attend but are unable to be with us in person, we will be attempting to livestream the service on YouTube. Please bear with us as we continue navigating the digital world and work through any technical challenges that may arise.

We will share the livestream link as the service time approaches.

Please keep James' family and loved ones in your prayers as they gather to give thanks for his life and commend him into God's eternal care, trusting in the promise of Christ's resurrection and the hope of everlasting life.

Our faithful and beloved member, James Edward Horst, died in Christ on Thursday morning July 16, 2026. Jim will be dearly missed by his family, friends, church family, and many people whose lives he touched.

A celebration of his life will be held at St. John Lutheran Church,
on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 10:00am
226 Washburn Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21225
followed by interment at Glen Haven Memorial Park.

On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 3-5pm and 7-9pm,
family and friends are warmly invited to honor James
at McCully Polyniak & Collins Funeral Home
3204 Mountain Road, Pasadena, Maryland 21122

Today, after worship, we traveled to Filbert Street Garden to plant our pumpkins for the fall. We had a great time Caring for Creation together!
