We also refer those in need to other organizations for help. The Open Heart Mission is to provide Food Distribution, Educational Programs, Special & Emergency Outreach to the low income, unemployed, residents recently released from incarceration, and the elderly. OHS serves about 300 meals a month and it is the only organization in the Garrison Hills area of Baltimore's West Side which provides this service daily and delivers meals to the elderly and disabled. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Open Heart Sanctuary offers LIFE Skill Classes for men and women, for a myriad of reasons, who have been out of the workforce for some time. These classes focus on building self-esteem, improving financial and physical wellness, and sharpening job readiness skills. OHS Educational Programs provide access to Professional clothing and resume' writing assistance. OHS has assisted several women and men to secure permanent employment or admission into vocational programs helping to break the cycle or poverty, addiction, and hopelessness to build a stronger community. SPECIAL OUTREACH
Although OHS provides community outreach throughout the year, this organization offers additional assistance during the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Seasons. OHS provides families with gifts for the youngest members of the community as well as the supplies to make a holiday meal for the entire family. OHS also aids families during the fall when the children in the neighborhood begin a new school year by offering school supplies and assisting families to obtain clothes so that students will feel confident and ready for academic success. EMERGENCY OUTREACH
Open Heart Sanctuary's partnerships with other community organizations such as Helping Up Mission, Gather Batimore and Toys for Tots,so that OHS can assist community members with emergency housing, utility service discontinuation, food and in times of other crisis.
