Psalms 24:1-10 NIV
[1] The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; [2] for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. [3] Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? [4] The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god. [5] They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior. [6] Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob. [7] Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. [8] Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. [9] Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. [10] Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty— he is the King of glory.

His name is Jesus...
And He. Is. Risen!!!

The reading for silent Saturday:

Psalms 23:1-6 NIV
[1] The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. [2] He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, [3] he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. [4] Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. [5] You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. [6] Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Just hold on, family.
Sunday is coming.

Tetelestai... 'It is finished!'. Many know this Greek word and its association as Jesus's final word before He gave up His Spirit (John 19:30). But it's important to know the applications of this word and to us.

Tetelestai had a financial application: a debt was paid in full. Jesus paid a debt on our behalf.

Tetelestai had a judicial or legal application: a criminal's sentence was completed and the prisoner was free. Because He became sin who knew no sin, we are now free in Christ through faith and repentance.

Tetelestai had a military application: soldiers returning from battle used this word to declare a mission complete and battle won. Jesus defeated death once and for all, for us.

Tetelestai had a sacrificial application: Priests used this word to indicate a lamb was without blemish and deemed a perfect sacrifice. Jesus was the perfect, and final sacrifice for us.

Our debt was paid, the punishment served, victory won, and worthy is the Lamb who was slain!

Today's Good Friday reading:

Psalms 22:1 NIV. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?

I encourage you to read all of Psalm 22. You'll see that it's just one of many OT passages that are all about Jesus.

Many think Jesus was only crying out in anguish to the Father. And while he was, these weren't just any words; they were sacred Scripture. In the darkest moment in history, the Savior of the world turned to the Word. So it should be with us.

It's only Friday. Just hold on; Sunday's coming.
Love you all, Pastor Matt

Isaiah 53:1-12 NIV
[1] Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? [2] He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. [3] He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. [4] Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. [5] But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. [6] We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
