We are united in prayer with the Towson University community as they mourn the loss of fellow student Nasir Majied, including at a memorial mass held earlier today. We pray for Nasir and his family and friends, along with all who have been impacted by gun violence.

We are especially grateful for chaplain Fr. Mike Misulia (interviewed in this WBAL story) and for campus minister Brian Rhude's intentionality in offering the great gift of Catholic ritual and witness in the wake of tragedy to the community at large, even outside of the typical academic year.

The Towson University community is mourning a student who was fatally shot while driving on York Road toward the Towson Circle.

Pope Leo XIV has encouraged young Catholics preparing to receive the sacrament of confirmation to ask the Holy Spirit for the gift of perseverance, warning that too many young people "disappear from the parish" after receiving the sacrament.
