Catholic Community of South Baltimore

Catholic Community of South Baltimore We are a community of faith committed to sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ here in South Baltimore through prayer, service, and friendship.

We gather at Holy Cross and Good Counsel. We’d love to see you! The Catholic Community of South Baltimore joins together three historic urban parishes to be a beacon of Christ's Light in our neighborhoods and beyond. Entrusted with this light at baptism, we go forth celebrating the sacraments, proclaiming the gospel, and serving the people of God. Seeking friends (singing) in low places!

Our choir is ready to kick off choir season with this week’s first rehearsal back from the summer, and we would love to see another bass or two joining us! We need some more sound down low! If you're a bass singer, or think you might be, please join us at Open Practice on Tuesday, September 8th! Music ministry is a great way to give your time and your talents to your parish. No experience is needed. Email [email protected] to RSVP!

(Disclaimer: there are three tenors in this photo.)

ICYMI: Fr. Alex is on the front page of the Sun! He and Music Director Ashley went to the Inner Harbor this week to connect with people, answer “questions for a priest,” and pray with folks. Picture unconnected but still exciting!

Choir season begins again in just two weeks on September 13, when our parish choir will return to singing at the 9am masses!

We kick things off with open music practice on Tuesday September 8th with a social following. Any interested musicians are welcome to join us, no commitment needed, to check us out!

It’s a great way to try out music ministry and meet new people. You’re welcome to participate or just hang out and listen! All singers are welcome in the choir regardless of experience. We are always excited to have new choir members and have a great year of music planned!

We are also in great need of more music ministers for our 4pm and 5pm masses!

If you are interested in choir membership, or serving as a cantor or pianist at our pm masses, please join us on September 8th! RSVP to [email protected]

When a kindergarten teacher is the CLOW Volunteer lead for the day, the discussion about following Jesus quickly turns into a beautifully-facilitated conversation about doing the right thing even when it’s hard. Grateful to the CLOW volunteers for helping our kids understand the values of our faith!

Join us at CLOW next on Sunday, September 13 at both 9 AM and 11 AM Mass; we’re back at both Masses for the fall!

“Our mission is hospitality: we are here to be a friendly face. … When I first got involved 17.5 years ago, what struck me the most was the lack of personal friendships. .. When we come on board, they know who we are, why we’re there; and that we’ll listen.” Andy Middleton recounted the incredible work of Apostleship of the Sea to nearly 40 people at Wiley Gunters. We are so grateful for the work AOTS does to let seafarers know that they are not forgotten!

Happy back to school! What an incredible outdoor Mass on Sunday. Thank you to all who made it possible!
