Brown Memorial Park Avenue Presbyterian Church

Brown Memorial Park Avenue Presbyterian Church A thriving, urban, progressive Presbyterian Church (USA) community of faith with historic roots in Baltimore City's Bolton Hill neighborhood.

Brown Memorial is an inclusive Christian community with historic roots in the heart of Baltimore City. We’re located at the corner of Park Avenue and Lafayette Street, but we also find ourselves at the intersection of ancient traditions and modern questions. We’re committed to following Jesus through the crossroads of belief and doubt, busyness and loneliness, joy and pain. We are trying to create

a space – within our hectic daily lives – for a different way of living. Life at Brown emphasizes the worship of God through song, story, Scripture and sermon. Children, youth and adults alike are challenged to engage the Christian tradition and their own experiences without fear as we discern together how to love God and our neighbors.

Doesn't love just make you smile? 🥰 Meet Gayle & Jean, who celebrated 30 years of marriage this year, married at Brown Memorial in 1996. They were at the wonderful Interfaith Pride Service at North Baltimore Mennonite Church on Thursday night, where Rev Andrew preached. 🏳️‍🌈❤️🏳️‍⚧️

Happy Pride!! 🏳️‍🌈❤️🏳️‍⚧️

At Brown, we know all people are created in the image of God, a God that cannot be made to fit into binaries.

We stand firm in our commitment to the full welcome, acceptance, and inclusion of all gender identities and sexual orientations within the full life of the church and the world . . . which means we take seriously our obligation to stand for the right of those people to live free from discrimination, violence, and every form of injustice.

Commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community is not a trend for us. We've been a member church of More Light Presbyterians for 30 years and counting. And we are always striving to deepen our welcome, this month and every month!

🎼🎤❤️ It's lunch time on a Wednesday & we bet you could use a break. What if you stopped the scroll right here for about 8 minutes and filled your spirit with this awesome performance of "Psalm 34" from Brown's choir, featuring soloists Rob Tracy and Eddie Satterfield, alongside Soulful Review? Be sure to make it to the end, for some big music moments!

If you know Brown, you know we take our music verrrry seriously, so it's no surprise that the long-awaited announcement of our new Organist, Russel Paul, was met with this standing ovation last Sunday morning.

Learn a little about Russel here: https://browndowntown.org/staff/russel-paul/

And stop in for Sunday morning worship to listen to his incredible talent playing our 1931 Skinner Organ (Opus 839)!

(Extra organ deets for the organ enthusiasts we know are out there! 😉)
