HERE ARE SOME OF THE WAYS GLOBAL OUTPOURING WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC IN JANUARY:
Drug Rehabilitation: In Santo Domingo there is a drug rehabilitation center called The House of Reconciliation. Men desperate for help who have no money come to this place of refuge free of charge to find the freedom they long for. They come in with no more than the shirt on their backs. These clothes are often the only clothes they’ll have for the entire year of the program. One of the ministries our team will be doing this January is buying new clothes for these men.
Rescuing Children from Prostitution: Many of the families in the Dominican Republic live in extreme poverty with little to no hope. One of the ways these families try to survive is by selling their young children into prostitution. This January our team will be going into a school where a woman rescues these children and gives them an education. They will be putting smiles on faces that are often marked by sadness by dressing up like clowns, putting on puppet shows, playing with the children and giving out toys and candy. They will be sharing the love of Jesus and showing them that God has not forgotten them.
Youth Detention Center: A new opportunity has opened to Global Outpouring this year in the Dominican Republic. We will be visiting young people who have been locked up in a youth detention center. Having worked in places such as these in other countries around the world we can tell you that they are nothing like what we have here in the United States. Our team will be reaching out to these young men, many of whom have followed a violent path such as gangs, drugs, and more. We will be ministering to these men who are at a crossroads in their lives, rescuing them with the hope of the gospel, encouraging them that their life can change.
