Here’s to the young Muslim learners, mashaAllah 💚 School’s officially back at Al-Rahmah School and our students have had a beautiful start to their Fall Semester!

Students were welcomed back to campus by their excited teachers and staff including head of school Sh. Saad Baig and their new Principal Hagar Aboubakr, with a lively rally and a few photo opportunities for parents and guardians to celebrate their children.

Since then, they’ve celebrated the return to school with a Back to School Night, jumped into their classes including mathematics, science, PE, and more, and including a class cohort in partnership with CCBC for the high school students.

May Allah (SWT) bless our students as they grow into future leaders, and reward our teachers and staff for their efforts in serving our youngest community members.

Every time a Muslim graduates Sunday School, they’re contributing to a generational legacy.

Al-Rahmah Sunday School is one of the longest-running programs held here at ISB, where every weekend, Muslim students get the chance to spend time learning about their Deen - whether they go to public school, Islamic school, private school, or are homeschooled.

The goal has always been to promote broad awareness of Islam for Muslim students from Kindergarten to 12th grade, by emphasizing the foundations of our Deen through the education of Islamic teachings and beliefs.

Al-Rahmah Sunday School’s objective is to provide a healthy and rewarding Islamic learning environment for students. The school meets once a week, nine months a year.

Over the years, we have seen that so many leaders in our community and beyond are former Sunday School students whose earliest memories of learning their Deen are those positive memories of spending Sundays at the masjid.

As we reflect on the wholesome graduation and recognition of students from Kindergarten through High School, we’re excited to welcome new and returning students this ongoing Sunday School semester!

There is a sister who hasn’t found a chance to study deen since college. There is a brother who wants to focus on Islam while he gets his Master’s degree. There is a new convert looking to learn more about Islam in a beginner-friendly format. There is a parent who wants to learn again like they did in their youth.

There needs to be an option for adult Muslims who have a yearning to learn more about their religion, and to connect to Islam.

That is why there is Qibla Institute - the beginner-friendly Islamic institute where adults can learn about Islam from A to Z from Islamic scholars, both in person and virtually.

"I really enjoy it,” said one of the Qibla students, “The content is great, and also being in the teacher's company. I don't really get to learn this in other places or other opportunities. Having that space to get into discussions in different topics once you're older, having that time, that direct contact with the scholar, being able to talk about these things with your peers."

May Allah (SWT) bless our Qibla students, and make their journey of seeking knowledge fulfilling and one that brings them closer to Allah (SWT) and His Messenger.

Muslim athlete Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady visited our masjid in collaboration with ISB Youth Group! A Palestinian MMA fighter, Br. Abdul-Kareem came and spoke to our youth and other attendees, and shared his story as well as led a session for guests to be introduced to mixed martial arts techniques through a live training workshop.

Exploring his inspiration regarding being a Muslim athlete and the wisdom he has picked up on his journey, it was clear that his perseverance and commitment to positive representation goes beyond simply mastering fighting techniques, mashaAllah.

Alhamdulilah, this was an excellent way for Muslims to get in-touch with the Sunnah of maintaining fitness and to learn from such an inspirational man.

May Allah (SWT) bless Br. Abdul-Kareem in his journey and reward him for his positive intentions. We look forward to seeing how far he goes!
