Welcome/Notices/Announcements

Prelude (lighting of candles)

Call to Worship
Leader: God’s Word tells us that love is patient and kind.
People: It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
Leader: Love does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it
is not easily angered.
People: It keeps no record of wrongs. It does not delight in
evil, but rejoices with the truth.
Leader: Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes,
always perseveres.
People: Love never fails. Praise be to God who loves us
eternally, right here and right now. AMEN

Hymn 408 "The Gift of Love"

Opening Prayer/Confession/Assurance of Pardon
Lord God, we confess that often our love feels
shallow. We act out of love, but then expect
something in return. We are impatient. We envy.
We boast. We are slow to forgive. Fill us with your
Holy Spirit. Open our hearts again to your love, so
that we are filled with your joy. Give us the heart
and soul to pour out your love on others.

Believe in your heart that you're meant to live a life full of
passion, purpose, magic and miracles.
Roy T. Bennett

Be the flame, not the moth.
Giacomo Casanova

Passion has little to do with euphoria, and everything to
do with patience. It is not about feeling good. It is about
endurance. Like patience, passion comes from the same
Latin root: pati. It does not mean to flow with exuberance.
It means to suffer.
Mark Z. Danielewski

I'm not in search of sanctity, sacredness or purity. These
things are found after this life, not in this life. In this life I
search to be completely human: to feel, to give, to take,
to laugh, to get lost, to be found, to dance, to love - to be
so human.

Leader: We come here this morning to rejoice that God has been, is now, and will forever be, bringing Thy kingdom coming.
People: We sing to the Lord all of our lives. We sing praise to our God as long as we live. We rejoice in the Lord. We rejoice, right here, right now.

Hymn 500 “Spirit of God Descend Upon My Heart”

Opening Prayer/Confession/Assurance of Pardon
Gracious God, we call out for You to rescue us
from our troubles, while we ignore the pleas of
those around us asking for help. We ask You to
liberate us from our plights, yet we turn a blind eye
to those bound up in worry, addiction and
loneliness. We pray that You will save each of us
here, when we should be asking You to save others
first. Forgive us, O Lord, forgive us.

Hymn 514 "Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus"

Opening Prayer/Confession/Assurance of Pardon
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ implores us not to worry, but we cannot help ourselves. The refrigerator is full of food, but we still make grocery lists; the closet is full of clothes, but we run out to buy a new outfit; the invitation to 'follow me' is simple, but we form a committee to decide how to do it. Forgive us, O Lord, forgive us.

We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.
Winston Churchill

True leaders don't invest in buildings. Jesus never built a
building. They invest in people. Why? Because success
without a successor is failure. So your legacy should not
be in buildings, programs, or projects; your legacy must
be in people.
Myles Munroe

Buildings should serve people, not the other way around.
John Portman

Hymn 467 "Trust and Obey" When We Walk With The Lord

Prayer of Confession and Contrition
Risen Christ, the world despised and rejected you.
But You responded with grace and humility. The
proud questioned your power and sought your
death. You responded with peace and new life.

Treasure your relationships, not your possessions.
Anthony J. D'Angelo

We treasure the word of God not only by reading the
words of the scriptures, but by studying them. We may
be nourished more by pondering a few words, allowing
the Holy Ghost to make them treasures to us, than to
pass quickly and superficially over whole chapters of
scripture.
Henry B. Eyring

The essential lesson I've learned in life is to just be
yourself. Treasure the magnificent being that you are and
recognize first and foremost you're not here as a human
being only. You're a spiritual being having a human
experience.
