Today is the summer Solstice in the northern hemisphere, when the day is at its longest and night at its shortest. Historically, people have celebrated life and abundance on the solstice. How do you celebrate - with picnics or henges, time at the beach or flower crowns (or all of the above!)?

At 10:00 AM, we invite you to pause for 19 seconds of reflection on the profound sacrifice and courage of those who demanded freedom and fair treatment. Take a moment of solidarity with all who continue to strive for economic justice and equitable compensation.

I, too, sing America.
I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.
Tomorrow,
I’ll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody’ll dare
Say to me,
“Eat in the kitchen,”
Then.
Besides,
They’ll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed—
I, too, am America.

Let America be America again.
Let it be the dream it used to be.
Let it be the pioneer on the plain
Seeking a home where he himself is free.

(America never was America to me.)

Let America be the dream the dreamers dreamed—
Let it be that great strong land of love
Where never kings connive nor tyrants scheme
That any man be crushed by one above.

(It never was America to me.)

O, let my land be a land where Liberty
Is crowned with no false patriotic wreath,
But opportunity is real, and life is free,
Equality is in the air we breathe.

(There's never been equality for me,
Nor freedom in this "homeland of the free.")

Say, who are you that mumbles in the dark?
And who are you that draws your veil across the stars?

I am the poor white, fooled and pushed apart,
I am the Negro bearing slavery's scars.
I am the red man driven from the land,
I am the immigrant clutching the hope I seek—

This week we celebrate Juneteenth and the freedom it represents! We remember the end of slavery and the will of the nation to move towards its stated values of equality, freedom, and independence for all. Join us in upholding these values and continuing the work still to be done.
(Oh, and the Meeting office will be closed on Friday in commemoration of the holiday.)

Summer is upon us! This week we start our summer schedule ... which is a little different this year.
Our schedule of Meetings for Worship is going to stay the same! We will continue to gather in expectant silence at 9:30 am and 11:00 am, with childcare from 9-12.
But there will be some changes from our usual schedule over the summer:
- we will have one combined assembly for all children and youth beginning at 11:20 am
- there will be no Simple Lunch every week (though we look forward to hosting a few lunches over the summer, stay tuned for details)!
