You ever look back and realize God was doing way more than you gave Him credit for? Because in the moment, it just felt messy. You were tired, confused, making mistakes, trying to hear God, trying not to go backwards.

And somehow… you grew. God's been working on you this whole time.

Tomorrow, September 6, will look a little different at Hopeville. ❤️ We’re holding a Preview Sunday just for our volunteers and ministry teams as we prepare, practice, and get ready for what’s ahead.

Our team will spend the morning worshiping together, walking through the service, and making sure we’re ready to welcome people well.

👉🏾 There will not be a service open to the public on September 6.

We’re grateful for every person who serves and helps make Hopeville a place where imperfect people can come as they are and grow in the ways of Jesus.

We’re excited for what’s ahead, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back soon!

If prayer is only where you bring problems, you’re missing the relationship. Prayer is where you learn to recognize God in the middle of your actual life.

Your legacy is being built in how you treat your family when you're tired, whether you apologize when you're wrong, what you reach for when you're stressed, and whether the people closest to you can actually see Jesus changing you.

What you do repeatedly becomes the life you leave behind. So pay attention to your habits, cause they're telling a story.

A lot of us treat prayer like a place to bring requests, and of course there’s nothing wrong with asking God for what we need. But if that’s all prayer ever becomes, we’re missing a huge part of it.

Prayer is also about becoming aware of God, slowing down long enough to listen, and allowing His presence to shape the way we think, respond, and live. Sometimes the situation doesn’t change right away, but something in us does.

That may be one of the most overlooked parts of prayer: God isn’t only interested in changing what’s happening around you. He wants to form what’s happening within you too.

So yes, ask God for what you need. Just don’t make the mistake of thinking that’s all prayer is for.

A lot of us are asking God to take us higher while ignoring what's unstable underneath us. More success won't heal insecurity. More attention won't fix your need for approval. More opportunity won't strengthen a weak foundation.

Jesus wants to deal with what's underneath the life everyone else sees.

Build deep enough that success doesn't own you, failure doesn't define you, and people’s opinions don't control you.

A huge THANK YOU to the partners who helped make Serve Saturday possible. 💙 Because of your generosity and support, more than 100 volunteers came together to serve Highlandtown in some really practical ways. Together, we:

👉🏾 Gave out 200 backpacks 🎒
👉🏾 Provided free haircuts 💈
👉🏾 Helped clean up Highlandtown 🧹
👉🏾 Planted shrubs and laid mulch in 10 tree beds 🌱
👉🏾 Created a fun, welcoming day for families in our community

We’re especially grateful for Markets at Highlandtown, Baltimore Beauty & Barber School, Blowin’ Up Moonbounce & Party Rental, and ToolBank USA for helping us love our neighbors well.

Days like this are a reminder that when people come together, small acts can make a big difference. Thank you for showing up, giving generously, and helping us serve our city. ❤️

Serve Saturday was full of so many good moments with free haircuts, free backpacks, games, a bouncy castle for the kids, and a crew of people helping clean up and care for the neighborhood.

But more than anything, it was about showing up, serving together, meeting people, laughing together, and doing what we can to make our little corner of Baltimore better.

Huge thank you to every person who volunteered, gave, served, cleaned, cut hair, packed backpacks, played with kids, and helped make the day happen. We’re grateful for you.

This is Hopeville: imperfect people growing in the ways of Jesus and learning to love our neighbors along the way. ❤️
