Today, as we reflected on Matthew 18, we rejoiced in Jesus’ beautiful promise: “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Although we were not many today, Christ was among us through His Word and His promises! We also give thanks to God as we continue confirmation classes with Felipe and his wife from Mexico. 🙏

A Sunday of gratitude

Today we gathered faithfully, giving thanks to God for His faithfulness and remembering the way of the cross that Jesus calls us to follow as His baptized disciples.

We are especially thankful for Felipe and Yenny, a Mexican couple who recently came to our church and told us they felt at home. They have now begun intensive confirmation classes, desiring to grow in faith, become members of our congregation, and receive Holy Communion with us.

We thank God for continuing to gather His family! Welcome, Felipe and Yenny! 🇲🇽🙏

¡Bienvenidos, Felipe y Yenny! 🇲🇽🙏

Today we gathered as a family of faith and reflected on Isaiah 51 and Matthew 16. These readings reminded us of the importance of building our lives upon a solid foundation: Jesus Christ, our firm Rock.

In the midst of a changing world, our hope does not rest upon our own strength, emotions, or circumstances, but upon Christ and his Word. Peter confessed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and our Lord promised: “I will build my church.” The Church belongs to Christ; he gathers, sustains, and preserves it, and even the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

We were also blessed to welcome two brothers who visited us today: one from Mexico and another from El Salvador. We thank God for their lives and for allowing us to grow together as one family in Christ.

Today we rejoice and give thanks to God for the confirmation of Julio Cruz, from El Salvador, and Fátima Mondy, from Nicaragua, at Nazareth Lutheran Church!

We are especially grateful that the Lord continues to bring people to His Church and that we are able to extend the Lord’s Supper to those who have been instructed in the faith and understand the wonderful gift we receive there: the true body and blood of Christ, given and shed for us for the forgiveness of sins.

We also thank Pastor Thurman Frey, who preached today on the faith of the Canaanite woman. His sermon was simultaneously translated into Spanish so that everyone could hear and receive God’s Word.

After the Divine Service, we enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship together.

We continue to pray that God would bless and expand His Church in this community, strengthen its members in faith, and bring more people to hear His Word and receive His gifts.

This Sunday at Nazareth, we were blessed to welcome Pastor Phil Jaseph from Martini, his wife, Deaconess Raquel, and a few members of Martini who joined them for the visit. Pastor Phil led the Divine Service in Spanish while Pastor Walterson is away for a few days of vacation.

Our brothers and sisters were very happy to receive their visit and, above all, to hear the Word of God proclaimed in the language of their hearts. Thanks be to God for His Word and for the fellowship we share in Christ!

Thank God for another blessed Sunday in His house! Today we reflected on Romans 8:35–39, where God assures us that nothing can separate us from His love in Christ Jesus. Though many immigrants face hardships and uncertainty, Christ is with us and in us. His love never fails!

Today during the Divine Service, we reflected on Matthew 13:24–30, 36–43, the Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds, remembering that the Lord knows His own, calls His Church to remain faithful to His Word, and promises that He will bring perfect justice in His time. After the service, we continued with our Adult Bible Class, studying the Christian faith together with Milton (Honduras), Fátima (Nicaragua), and Julio (El Salvador).

We thank God for His Word, which strengthens our faith and unites us as one family in Christ.

Today we were blessed to gather for Divine Service, we reflected on the Parable of the Sower and the power of God’s Word as a seed. We remembered that, at different times in our lives, we are all the four kinds of soil. Yet God continues to plant His Word in our hearts and sends us to sow that same seed in the lives of those around us.

Today we celebrated a blessed Fifth Sunday after Pentecost. Through the readings from Jeremiah, Romans 7, and Matthew 10, God reminded us that His Law exposes our sin, but His Gospel points us to Christ, our only Savior and hope. We were thankful to welcome three visitors from Honduras, Jamaica, and Venezuela. After the Divine Service, we enjoyed a wonderful fellowship meal lovingly prepared by one of our Venezuelan sisters. Thanks be to God for His many blessings!
