National Peace Walk

Friday 5/29 @ 5:30 Weekly Homewood Peace Vigil
@ 6:30 Potluck with ross brubeck, National Peace Walker

Homewood Friends are hosting ross brubeck who is engaging in a National Peace Walk. ross was part of the Quaker Walk to Washington that Homewood hosted last year. He is engaging in a walk of indefinite length beginning in late Spring 2026, departing from Brooklyn, NY and heading south between yearly meetings along the original Walk to Washington route. The journey will continue to Richmond, VA before turning to visit Friends along the western edge of the state into North Carolina. His motivation is to take a worshipful path to visit Friends and aligned communities in order to continue

the work of envisioning a peaceful world.

Please Join Us for food and fellowship. Please register for the potluck so we know how many to expect: https://bit.ly/peacewalkpotluck

Friends are also invited to participate in the walk on 5/29 either from Little Falls Meeting (20 miles) or from Big Gunpowder Falls (Harford Road)- mid-day. Coordinate plans with Tom Curtin. (Message us for Tom's contact info)

We continue to watch what’s happening in Minneapolis with horror at our government and the domestic terrorism its agents are enacting. We also see the beauty in community, peaceful protest and folks caring for each other. We’re holding the Twin Cities in the light. This is not OK and it shouldn’t be happening.

Combatants for Peace, nominated for two Nobel Peace Prizes, is an extraordinary bi-national group of former enemy combatants - Israelis and Palestinians - working together during an ongoing armed conflict.
Confronted with the devastation and escalating violence of October 7th and the war in Gaza, the very core of the movement faces great challenges in showing that there is another way. The first question they must answer relates to their own beliefs...is this possible?

This film is a follow up to the award-winning documentary Disturbing the Peace (2016), which is about questioning the narrative we are born into. There is Another Way is about choosing our future. It takes courage to walk a path even when you yourself feel overwhelmed and afraid.
