Do you know the story of the ugly duckling? A swan was deceived into thinking it was a duck. The swan’s incorrect thinking influenced the way it saw the world around it. Deception is not just a problem with the swan. When we face dark times in our lives, Satan likes to mess with our minds. He deceives us into thinking that God does not care…that God is not with us…that God will never again work in a mighty way in our lives. So, how do we guard our minds against thinking this way? We hold fast to God’s truth. We strengthen our faith in the promises of God. We can nourish our souls in the truth of Scripture and say to ourselves: God, Your Word says that You make all things work together for good; while I don’t see how my present situation is good, help me trust that you are working behind the scenes in ways I can’t even imagine. God, You Word says that You will never leave me or forsake me; so let me feel the peace of Your presence in this moment. So, whatever challenge you face today, whatever is filling you with depression and anxiety, whatever hard time you are going through, guard your thinking against the deceptive lies of Satan and fuel your faith by focusing on the promises of God.

Happy Passover to our Jewish friends and neighbors. Tonight at Sundown Passover 2024 comes to an end. Pesach is a time set aside for remembering God’s provision for and liberation of the Children of Israel from Egypt. It takes its name from the angel of death ‘passing over’ the homes and sparing the firstborn children of the people. Take a moment today to reflect on God’s provision in your life. How has God been there in difficult times? How has God provided a way out of hardships in your past?

On Monday, we had a total eclipse here in MO. While looking at the few minutes of totality I was awestruck. It might have been the single most beautiful thing I have ever seen. It really hammered home the idea of our creator God loving us. There is no real practical reason for a total eclipse to look that amazing. Yet it does. So much of the world around us is the way it is simply as a gift from our amazing God. What in nature most reminds you of God’s wonder?
