Don't let deflection steal your experience of God's forgiveness; true freedom is found in confessing your sin and embracing His grace ⚡. What are you holding onto that needs to be surrendered to God today?

God truly delights in hearing from us, just as we cherish our children's conversations 💙.

"Why did you hit your sibling?" “They started it!” If you’ve ever parented a 6-year-old, the deflection game probably sounds familiar! Kids have a hard time dealing with the exposure of being in trouble, so they blame anyone else to protect themselves. But if we are honest... we do the exact same thing with God. We use mental gymnastics to convince ourselves it’s not our fault. But here is the hard truth: when we make excuses, we actually block ourselves from experiencing the very thing our souls are desperate for: forgiveness. If you are exhausted from carrying the weight of unconfessed sin, take a second to jump into this week’s blog post. God isn't waiting to crush you when you step out of hiding; He’s waiting to embrace you.👇

Exhausted from making excuses and carrying the weight of unconfessed sin? Discover why breaking the habit of deflection is the key to experiencing God's true forgiveness and grace. Read more from Immanuel Fellowship Church.

Ever felt like your circumstances are completely hopeless? Like you're outnumbered, outmatched, and the hero isn't showing up in time? King Saul faced impossible odds—an enemy army so massive his scouts couldn't count them. His own troops were deserting. The prophet didn't show up. And Saul made a choice that cost him everything. What would you have done? This Sunday's sermon explores what it means to trust God when hope feels lost—and why the hope we have in Jesus will never disappoint. Full Sermon Manuscript below: .

Facing impossible circumstances? Discover why faith is found in trusting God when hope feels lost. A powerful sermon on 1 Samuel 13 and the sufficiency of Christ.

Discussion Questions are up from Sunday's Sermon!

Pastor Sam talked briefly about the cliche of the hero who swoops in in the nick of time. What's your favorite movie or book scene where the hero arrives just in time? Why do you suppose this storytelling device resonate so deeply with people? When have you hoped for this in your own life?

Have you found yourself continually let down the promises of the kings and idols of this world yet somehow still continually drawn to them? People, leaders, escapes, relationships, experiences, we all turn to the things of this world asking them to fill a need in our heart that can only be met by Christ. This Sunday at Immanuel, we’re beginning a short series in 1 Samuel exploring the reign of King Saul (Israel’s first king). We’d love for you to join us for this time as we explore the limitations of our earthly kings and the ways the gospel of Jesus speaks real life and hope into both this broken world and our broken hearts. You can check us out online or in person Sundays at 10:30 am!

We laugh at ancient people who built statues to worship. Then we spend 3 hours doomscrolling political news, convinced the right election will save us. We're not that different. We've just gotten better at hiding our idols. Want to know what you're really worshiping? Look at your calendar. Look at your bank statement. New blog post: We're All Building Shrines (We Just Don't Call Them That)

Think you don't worship idols? Check your calendar and bank statement. An honest look at the modern shrines we build and why only Jesus brings true renewal.
