Gateway Central District UMC The Missouri Conference will relentlessly lead our churches to become outwardly focused and spiritually centered Christ followers.

Heard on an instagram post:
“Do you want me to be nice or do you want me to tell the truth and risk my seat next to Jesus?”

Bad theology but made me laugh

Today is helpful hint:
If you found yourself touching a Paper grocery ad so the picture would get bigger, you’re spending too much time on your phone, and or need new glasses

Neighborhood kids, Church kids, Grand kids, all kids who like to sing!

Friends, as the Gateway District ceases to exist on June 30th, so will this page.
Watch for the new Northeast District FB page soon after July 1.

From the pastor to the nursery attendants to the parking lot greeters; in the massive sanctuaries to the tiny open air churches; through the orchestras and choirs and the most timid of soloists;
Fear Not! The wonder is in the truth of the story. Tell it my friends.
Praying for you all to experience what you are offering, to see the incarnation unfold in the faces before you, and to know God’s love for your communities.

Thank you Gateway Central and Mark Twain Districts

Today a well meaning person said, "Well, what's up with the Methodist Church?" At that moment I made a decision to not start with the messiness of churches trying to make decisions when no decision has been made or any other stuff you can find by looking at various websites.
Instead this is what I will lift up: backpacks filled with school supplies from the biggest city churches to the open air country churches; a confirmation class beginning when there had been none, folks reaching out to see what we can do for refugees from Afghanistan that are coming our way; 150th anniversaries, 180th Anniversaries, babies coming, a young student just arriving for college being brave enough to walk through the doors of a church by himself, new candidates exploring ministry, preaching rotations where the congregation is being enriched by a multitude of gifts and graces, prayer vigils, new folks enrolling in Lay Servant classes and a retired pastor --still serving deciding to study The Hebrew language, snap shot videos teaching about the difference between mercy and justice ministries, mergers and moving toward being stronger together, new big time community ministries forming, and since I must stop somewhere--community gardens run over with the last produce and 10 pound zucchinis to give away!
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is being preached and lived locally!

Dear Churches --
As the indoor mask mandate returns to STL city and county, my prayer is for everyones safety and that this not be a source of discord within the churches. Be safe, be unselfish, and do no harm.

And one last post--I am grateful for the ministry in our conference and at University UMC of Rev. Diane Kenaston.
Her faithful process (along with all the folks of legacy UUMC and Legacy Grace UMC) showed a depth of faithfulness and masterful skills that are truly inspiring.
God Bless Diane, Adam, and Isaac as they head 'across the pond" to minister in England.
Yes, I am a bit envious. Thank you Diane.

Also want to give a shoutout to wonderful lay folks and retirees who will be serving God as Pulpit Supply for the New Haven/Immanuel Senate Grove churches beginning this Sunday.
In August the same will happen at Lewis Memorial Chapel.
Their words on the Word will rain down blessings!
(I'm not sharing all the names because I didn't ask their permission yet)

In our end is our beginning...
While the Uhauls and moving trucks finish crisscrossing the state we as Gateway Central say goodbye to Rev. Will Purinton and Rev. Kyle Butler, and Pastor Amanda Gastreich, Jess Horsley ,Sean McIntyre, and Jewell McGhee as they are no longer serving in our district. We ask for prayers of blessing on Rev. Katrina Drew, Pastor Nick Savage, Pastor Todd Holman; Pastor Andrew McCausland, and Rev. Kevin Richardson.

Here is a prayer from my morning devotions I thought was good as we miss/mourn what is behind and look forward to what is ahead:

"God, I thank You for how I have been formed by my encounters with You. But, today, I take my eyes off the experience of my past, and I ask: how do You want to meet with me now?"

Blessed meetings my friends....
