Tumax Ministry is an organization that works in Guatemala with 2 purposes: to bring the truth of the gospel to the people of Guatemala and to give them the tools they need to improve their personal and local economy and thus their quality of life. During David’s childhood, he participated in the family music group that played Christian music in K’iche’ (the native language of the area). As part of
the music group, David started out playing keyboard and then moved to playing guitar. Gradually, David branched out and started making his own music, and was able to publish 2 CD’s before coming to the states. After moving to Wisconsin, David has published 2 CD’s of his original music, and is in the process of publishing a third CD. David’s father thought that it was important for the children to receive an education, so David and all of his siblings have/will complete high school. David’s dad is the pastor of the local church and has been since 2004. David’s mom is a house wife and stays VERY busy with maintaining the house and her role as a pastor’s wife. Jenny Tumax was born and raised in Minnesota. She has 2 sisters. Jenny started doing missions when she was 13, taking her first trip to Matamorros, Mexico. That was the beginning of a life of missions. Over the next 7 years, Jenny visited Mexico, Romania, Zimbabwe, China and finally Guatemala. In 2003, Jenny moved to Guatemala to teach English. It was during that time that she and David met as they lived in the same community, went to the same church and took and gave classes at the same community education center. In 2004, Jenny left Guatemala and returned to the USA to live in Wisconsin. Two years later, in October of 2006, David moved to Wisconsin where he and Jenny were married. In March of 2008, David and Jenny were blessed with the birth of their daughter Salem. It has always been the vision of David and Jenny to help the people of Guatemala, starting with the people in and around Quiacquix, improve their lives through teaching them God’s truth along with life skills. The vision that God gave David and Jenny is to build Leadership Development Centers (LDCs) where people from the surrounding community can come and receive biblical and secular education, business training, educational scholarships, small business loans, find employment and just have a place to come and relax with their friends and families. If this sounds like something that you would like to be a part of, we’d be glad to hear from you. We are always looking for groups or individuals to go down to Guatemala, people who will support our ministry financially and through prayer. Also, we’d love to come to your church or group and present the ministry that God has given us in Guatemala. In fact, this year, our goal is raise $60,000 to buy land in Guatemala so that we can actually start building the first LDC!!!
